November 2023 chemo starters

Glad you are doing ok and starting to feel a bit more normal. Getting to the end of rads is other milestone. Hope you feel ok as you continue with the endochrine meds

Sounds like you are having a tough time, I think we all have, I donā€™t think anyone has an easy ride in this journey.
I hope the seroma settles soon and doesnā€™t affect your rads. Pity you didnā€™t see your usual consultant, nothing worse than having to deal with someone you havenā€™t met before.
Hopefully your scan will be ok, definitely better waiting to see the results of that before starting the Letrozole. Fingers crossed for you :crossed_fingers:

That lost feeling is horrible isnt it?! As you start to see improvements in your recovery you will feel less lost and more positive though. My hair is growing back now too - I have a good 1.5cm length on my head now, although it seems to be growing back grey instead of my usual mid brown. Like you Iā€™m still wearing wigs.

I hope your seroma clears up soon. Iā€™ve been lucky to not have any of those, but my left arm is full of collapsed veins that make my whole arm stiff and a little painful at times. I had the covid spring vaccination too and that made my shoulder really painful for 2 days afterwards.

Iā€™ve not been offered a dexa scan but i am on that adcal stuff and will be having zoledronic acid.

Good luck with your further treatments x

Hi @jolly_bongo_owner and @kitty3 and other November starters. Just checking in. How are we all doing?

I had my radiotherapy planning appointment this morning. Managed to hold my breath for 20 seconds and got my three tattoos. I hope they do disappear into little dots as they are crosses at the moment. Hmm! Treatment starts mid June for 15 sessions. Couldnā€™t choose the time of the appointments so they are all mid-afternoon apart from two.

Luckily the seroma is fine now. It was drained three times and then gradually went down. Iā€™ve been working hard on the cording exercises and didnā€™t have any trouble getting my arms above my head today They only have to rest on top of head. I do have an appointment with the NHS physio tomorrow though as there is still some pain all the way down inside of arm into wrist.

I also have a Dexa scan booked the day before I start radio which is lucky. So itā€™s just a matter of keep pushing on. Will hopefully feel better once radio is over and done with. Just the dreaded Letrozole to face after that.

Take care everyone. Hope youā€™re ok. x

Hi glad you are doing ok. You will be glad to get the rads over and done with, I hope it goes ok.
After my 2nd lot of neutropenic sepsis my oncologist decided no more chemo which I have to say I was fairly happy about as I couldnā€™t see how it wasnā€™t going to happen again,
So they brought forward my surgery date and I had surgery last week. Doing ok so far apart from awful breathlessness and coughing which I think is possibly from my lungs due to the sepsis.
Getting my results on Monday so weā€™ll see what the plan is after that.
Glad your seroma settled down and I hope your scan goes ok. Another step closer
Hope everyone else is doing ok x

Hi @kitty3. Thank you.

Must have been a relief not to have to face another dose of chemo. Glad they brought surgery forward. Early days yet with recovery but so far so good and hope you begin to feel better in general soon. Youā€™ve had a tough time. Good luck with the results. x

Thank you and I hope things go ok with the rads xx

Morning Donna, just wanted to jump on and ask how your ultrasound went. Iā€™m in the same position. Got diagnosed from initial biopsy then had to have mri which showed more abnormalities so have to have another ultrasound on 12th and then potentially another biopsy! Feel like Iā€™m going round in circles

Morning,

The ultrasound showed the node so they biopsied and it came back clear. Just a reactive node. Iā€™m just about to finish radiotherapy. Surgery went well and had clear margins, chemo was rough but I got through it. Once that biopsy was done I was booked in for surgery pretty quick. They rang the following week and arranged a date (I got changed to surgery first because of pre-existing health issues). But I had surgery 4 weeks after diagnosis. The waiting is definitely the worst part.

Thanks and glad youā€™re on the mend

Hi Sending love to all. Is anyone else still waiting for radiotherapy? I finished chemo in February was initially told 6-8 weeks wait then that changed to 6 months told via text message!! Iā€™m 5 months into the wait and was told last week could be another 4-5 months!! The stress is insane.
I have tried transferring but it was rejected I have said I will travel to timbukto but still nothing. i do feel lumps and thickening in the same breast was worried but thought as they are clearly so busy I would wait until my annual mammogram which was yesterday. When they said the wait for those results would be 3-4 weeks I had a melt down and for the first time in this whole process was treated like I was neurotic and overly anxious. Looking for the silver lining Iā€™m thinking if it has come back it is good I havenā€™t had radiotherapy yet. Anyone else in the same boat?? (I kind of hope not but would be good to hear from you if you are)

Thatā€™s absolutely ridiculous and I really feel for you! I would really consider putting in a complaint if I were you. Changing the time frame is one thing, but not understanding that youā€™re going to be upset and anxious and then making you feel the way you because they keep changing the goalposts is damn right disgusting. I hope you get some answers very soon xx

Thank you @jolly_bongo_owner I was thinking itā€™s not ok but I feel like Iā€™m questioning myself so much and donā€™t want to put myself above others that this has led to loosing my courage. I will write in.

Hi @sallychloe. That length of wait is totally not acceptable. I had to chase my referral for RT as it was at another hospital and it had got forgotten, but in the end it was 10 weeks post surgery when I started - and I wasnā€™t happy about that! I spoke to my BCN who chased for me. Iā€™m four weeks post RT now. A few minor problems with redness, soreness and peeling but I am on the mend now.

Iā€™m not surprised youā€™re upset. Yes, do write and send copies to all and sundry. The higher up the chain the better. Itā€™s not right that we have to make a fuss but sometimes we just have to!

Take care. x
