@sam3 my oncology appointments on the 20 th when I think they will start exemestane and that abemaciclib xx I think I’ll ask if I can delay it until my radio is finished !!! I start that tomm for 15 sessions and don’t want to be dealing with crappy side effects and radio xxx
How was your radio ??? Did you get through it ok ???
Good luck with your radiotherapy. I am on day 8 today of 15. I’ve been on Letrozole for two months now and coping ok alongside it. Mostly just a bit tired so far. They told me they would give me a couple of weeks to recover before starting on the Abemaciclib. Radiotherapy is ok, just a bit relentless with the daily visits - been lovely having the weekend off! xx
Hi, I haven’t- I must do this. Thank you so much! Xo
Hi, radiotherapy was absolutely fine. A tiny bit of tenderness towards end. I’m supposed to moisturise four times a day but life is so busy, I’m managing two! I need to get on top of that. It sounds crazy but I enjoyed getting out of the house to go to my daily radiotherapy. It was the only time I got to myself and I celebrated the quiet with a bun from coffee shop each day- I need to get a grip on my diet too! Xo
Hi ladies - sorry I’m finding time has run away with me - I’m back to work and also driving fifty miles a day taking my daughter to and from
School as well as running the business and this week I have hospital plus a parents eve to go to … and I’m working all weekend . I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel a bit resentful that I can’t afford to take any more time off and have had to go back to work … anyways … such is life !!
I have my last herceptin infusion this Friday and I’ve got mixed feelings about it . I should be having 18 but I’m being stopped at 9 due to my body struggling to cope with it … on one hand I’m relieved but on the other I’m terrified my cancer might come back because I haven’t had 18 infusions … it’s rock and a hard place stuff !
Please take it easy! You are still getting over your treatment. Good luck for Friday - totally understand how you feel. xx

Hi - has anyone successfully dyed their hair after chemo? My hair is super short and starting to grow and I would love to use a natural dye to get rid of the grey. It’s been six weeks since my last infusion.
@kimmy4 - I think you have to wait a certain length of time before dyeing … I’m not sure but I’ll
Look it up . I don’t really have enough to warrant dyeing yet … and didn’t want to do it while on herceptin x
My online research throws up this - similiar from Cancer research too x
It’s generally recommended to wait about six months after completing chemotherapy before dyeing your hair. This is because chemotherapy can weaken and damage hair, making it more susceptible to damage from chemical treatments. Waiting allows the hair to regain strength and become less fragile.
Elaboration:
- Hair Fragility:
Chemotherapy can affect hair follicles, causing hair to become more brittle and prone to breakage.
- Scalp Sensitivity:
Chemotherapy can also make the scalp more sensitive, and applying chemical dyes during this time could potentially irritate the skin.
- Waiting Period:
Waiting six months allows the hair to grow back and strengthen, reducing the risk of damage from chemical treatments.
- Consultation with Professionals:
It’s always a good idea to consult with a hairdresser or other healthcare professional to determine the best approach for dyeing your hair after chemotherapy.
- Alternative Dye Options:
Consider using henna dyes or vegetable-based dyes, as they are generally gentler on the hair than other types of hair coloring.
- Sensitivity Testing:
Before using any hair dye, it’s crucial to perform a sensitivity test to ensure that the product doesn’t cause an allergic reaction.
I hope it all went smoothly for you @shannon27 thinking of you loads. Big love!! Xxxxxx
So mine went really well…… I still can’t get my head around the general anaesthetic, what kind of strange magic is that!!! hahahah! it felt like time travel, one minute we are talking about the body shop, lols and then the next I’m waking up in recovery!!! so so weird, but no where as scary as you think?! although I was completely calm about it all, which helped.
My op was 3 hours long, went in theatre around 11 and I remember asking the time in recovery and they said 2.30, and I was due home the same day but their systems went down around 4pm so we all had to stay as they couldn’t access anything!! I didn’t mind staying, super comfy bed, and just felt safer being there the first night to be honest……I was with some lovely ladies on my ward and we were all still chatting until about 11pm, lol. I got home this morning about 11ish. I’ve only taken paracetamol last night, nothing else yet. Feels tight and stiff but no pain…… my throat is worse from the tube, it’s so sore……. so lots of ice lollies are helping I’ve got a drain, which is slightly annoying but it’s ok. Overall, much easier than anticipated, I can’t believe yet relieved it’s all over.
Thank you all for checking in and wishing us well……. very much appreciated (as I rarely come on here now) but I remembered that @shannon27 had hers the same day so thought I best check in
I hope everyone is doing well…… sending so much love always!!! It was my birthday on the 13th, so I’m so glad it wasn’t booked for on my actual birthday, just two days after…… not the best present but it’s done now and so relieved.
Xxxxxxxx
Yes it is magic one min your chatting away next you wake up in recovery i said that was quick it felt like 5 mins
i was in at around 9am and didnt get out of surgery until 9.30pm
Yes i had 2 drains had one removed this morning along with my cafeter and i have been up waling to the toliet, its my tummy that feels tight and sore but i do have an incision hip to hip.
Hope your recoving nicely at home
Thank you for all the well wishes means alot xccc
ahhh so glad to hear you’re well…… thank god that’s over for us both!! and if anyone else is reading this, it’s not as bad as you imagine in your head, a bit like chemo…… but everyone deals with things differently, but keeping positive and trying to stay as calm as possible is the main thing.
I hope you’re doing well, oh that’s good that you’ve had at least one drain out now…… they are slightly annoying aren’t they, mine might come out Monday, I hope!! Wow that’s a long surgery, you’ve done so so well, I hope you coped well with coming out of the anaesthetic and you weren’t poorly with it. I also hope you aren’t in too much pain now but I can imagine it’s your tummy that’s the worst.
Rest up, take it super easy……. I hope your recovery goes smoothly!!
Big love always xxxxxxxxxx
