Hello! I hope you are doing ok now - remember to rest! x
I was suffering with terrible nan knees from letrozole, but someone told me to try tumeric supplements and I think theyāve helped, either that or the symptom has just settled down of its own accord - worth a try?
Best of luck with the abemaciclib, Iāll have been taking it for four weeks on Friday and Iām still finding it ok. I didnāt escape the diarrhoea entirely, but itās not been unmanageable. Tiredness is the worst of it for me. x
Thanks. Appreciate your thoughts. I start on Friday. They are starting me on 100mg as my blood test showed my white blood cells were a bit low and Iām already tired! They might put me up if I tolerate it, but the oncologist said a quarter of people on the higher dose end up having it reduced. Do you know if the side effects settle down? I forgot to ask! xx
I downloaded a brochure from the manufacturer that suggested that diarrhoea would settle down after six months if you can put up with it. The oncologist said it takes three cycles to know where you are. Its interesting that your oncologist suggested that a quarter of people need a dose reduction, mine said half, but when I mentioned that to two different nurses they both laughed and said they havenāt got a single patient on the full dose. Iām sticking with it for now, my WBC were also sub normal before starting, but havenāt got much worse.
@flojo - those meds sound awful
⦠@flower5 ⦠I donāt know about nanās knees . Iāve got nans body ! I canāt even get out if a chair without wincing
Me too with the āNanās bodyā! The other thing Iām on and off having problems with is what I can only describe as muscle tremors. Like spasms all through my body like an electrical current. Makes my arms kind of tremor and spasm. Feels horrible! Canāt bear anyone new time when I feel like that! But canāt seem to find anything online to verify what Iām feeling. Certainly not really linked to Letrozole.
Itās all a bit relentless feeling today.
@flowers5 - thank you - thatās really kind of you and reassuring to know.
@arty1 nanās body!! I get that!
@rfg I get spasms in my legs and feet at night, which I think are restless legs but did put it down to the Letrozole.
Today, I have been doing something normalā¦(well for me!)
This is fantastic @flojo!
@rfg and @flojo - Iām not on hormone blockers but I too get all kinds of weird spasms and twitches now ⦠I guess itās just left over from chemo ⦠I think itās about 6 weeks now since my last herceptin . I should still be having it but due to all the reactions my oncologist stopped at nine ⦠it feels odd but Iām also slowly starting to feel a bit stronger ā¦
@flojo you look great ! (Even if you donāt feel it ) where was the pic taken ?
Went and got measured up for pretty bras yesterday and feel like a new woman ⦠one is a lacy black underwire and you canāt make out that one boob is a fake which delighted me ⦠I handed over my ill fitting ugly mastectomy bra and itās going in the recycling box for African donations x
Hampton Court flower show with my sister and the Wombles! Well done on getting some new glamorous bras - sounds like a great boost to your confidence. I must admit being out yesterday was lovely. x
@flojo - Ahh love a flower show and the weather was lovely too ⦠is the womble made out of flowers ?! It feels nice and Norman being out doing things you enjoy doesnt it x
Dried flowers, I think. But they were great. x
Hey xx sorry it took me a while to update on the hair dye xxxx got super busy doing nothing !!
Yes I used the dye it has worked perfectly xx I have quite a bit of gray now Iām darker haired !! I used Daniel fields water colour which has no harsh chemicals and itās looking good !! Itās more of a semi permanent which is why I chose it xx I can experiment with different colours until it gets to a length that looks more like my norm and then Iāll go back to permanent root touch ups xxx
On another note Iām 2 weeks into Abemaciclib and it has been ok no really horrible side effects but I am getting some cramping xxx also Iām really aching in the mornings and itās a struggle to get up and moving xxx
Howās my other Abemaciclib people doing xx
Pleased to hear you are doing ok on Abemaciclib. I only started yesterday but have been feeling a bit nauseous about an hour after taking it - that is on an empty stomach though. And Iām really tired! xx
Yours looks really thick! Is that your normal colour?
Yes its definitely getting there in the last 6 qeeks its just shot through! I kept alot at the side from cold capping but had it all cut shorter so it was in some sort of style, yes thats my natural colour xx
Hi, butting in on the discussion on Letrozole: a colleagueās wife was having a really bad time with it, hot flushes, aches and pains, so her oncologist put her on a different drug (no idea what though, sorry) and it made all the difference to her. Apparently there was a bit of a battle between the oncologist and the GP as the different drug is more expensive, but you should definitely discuss with your doctor if there is an option to try out a different drug.
Throughout this whole journey I think I have mostly learned that all the stuff they throw at us is the least expensive first, which invariably are the older drugs with the most side effectsā¦
