I was suffering with terrible nan knees from letrozole, but someone told me to try tumeric supplements and I think they’ve helped, either that or the symptom has just settled down of its own accord - worth a try?

Best of luck with the abemaciclib, I’ll have been taking it for four weeks on Friday and I’m still finding it ok. I didn’t escape the diarrhoea entirely, but it’s not been unmanageable. Tiredness is the worst of it for me. x

Thanks. Appreciate your thoughts. I start on Friday. They are starting me on 100mg as my blood test showed my white blood cells were a bit low and I’m already tired! They might put me up if I tolerate it, but the oncologist said a quarter of people on the higher dose end up having it reduced. Do you know if the side effects settle down? I forgot to ask! xx

I downloaded a brochure from the manufacturer that suggested that diarrhoea would settle down after six months if you can put up with it. The oncologist said it takes three cycles to know where you are. Its interesting that your oncologist suggested that a quarter of people need a dose reduction, mine said half, but when I mentioned that to two different nurses they both laughed and said they haven’t got a single patient on the full dose. I’m sticking with it for now, my WBC were also sub normal before starting, but haven’t got much worse.

Me too with the ā€˜Nan’s body’! The other thing I’m on and off having problems with is what I can only describe as muscle tremors. Like spasms all through my body like an electrical current. Makes my arms kind of tremor and spasm. Feels horrible! Can’t bear anyone new time when I feel like that! But can’t seem to find anything online to verify what I’m feeling. Certainly not really linked to Letrozole.

It’s all a bit relentless feeling today.

@flowers5 - thank you - that’s really kind of you and reassuring to know.

@arty1 nan’s body!! I get that!

@rfg I get spasms in my legs and feet at night, which I think are restless legs but did put it down to the Letrozole.

Today, I have been doing something normal…(well for me!)

@rfg and @flojo - I’m not on hormone blockers but I too get all kinds of weird spasms and twitches now … I guess it’s just left over from chemo … I think it’s about 6 weeks now since my last herceptin . I should still be having it but due to all the reactions my oncologist stopped at nine … it feels odd but I’m also slowly starting to feel a bit stronger …
@flojo you look great ! (Even if you don’t feel it ) where was the pic taken ?

Went and got measured up for pretty bras yesterday and feel like a new woman … one is a lacy black underwire and you can’t make out that one boob is a fake which delighted me … I handed over my ill fitting ugly mastectomy bra and it’s going in the recycling box for African donations x

Dried flowers, I think. But they were great. x

Hey xx sorry it took me a while to update on the hair dye xxxx got super busy doing nothing !! :joy::joy:
Yes I used the dye it has worked perfectly xx I have quite a bit of gray now I’m darker haired !! I used Daniel fields water colour which has no harsh chemicals and it’s looking good !! It’s more of a semi permanent which is why I chose it xx I can experiment with different colours until it gets to a length that looks more like my norm and then I’ll go back to permanent root touch ups xxx

On another note I’m 2 weeks into Abemaciclib and it has been ok no really horrible side effects but I am getting some cramping xxx also I’m really aching in the mornings and it’s a struggle to get up and moving xxx

How’s my other Abemaciclib people doing xx

Pleased to hear you are doing ok on Abemaciclib. I only started yesterday but have been feeling a bit nauseous about an hour after taking it - that is on an empty stomach though. And I’m really tired! xx

Hi, butting in on the discussion on Letrozole: a colleague’s wife was having a really bad time with it, hot flushes, aches and pains, so her oncologist put her on a different drug (no idea what though, sorry) and it made all the difference to her. Apparently there was a bit of a battle between the oncologist and the GP as the different drug is more expensive, but you should definitely discuss with your doctor if there is an option to try out a different drug.
Throughout this whole journey I think I have mostly learned that all the stuff they throw at us is the least expensive first, which invariably are the older drugs with the most side effects…
