Hi all,
Just a quick question, as the title suggests im still numb almost 7 weeks post ANC & left Mx. Does this ever go away?. I have no cording and full movement, back to the gym etc, but a very definate numb area, both my armpit and “breast area”.
I had a WLE and SLNB back on may 8th and I am still experiencing numbness in both areas all totally normal I have been told hope you continue to make a good recovery and hope this helps
I had Mx, immediate reconstruction and ANC last June and I am still completely numb in my armpit and running down the underside of my arm. Very disconcerting but something you get used to
Hi Artemis I had full ANC in Feb and a WLE, followed by an MX and DIEP recon in May. I still have numbness in my armpit and down the back of my arm (although unfortunately have now developed lymphodema too). My BCN says numbness is normal and can take many months, if at all to feel “normal” in the area post-operatively again. Also, my surgeon had to cut the nerves when he did my ANC so this has made the numbness probably more permanent. It may be worth checking with your BCN about what happened during surgery (maybe this is standard procedure?) My surgeon does it as a matter of course so who knows? Good luck with the healing - it takes a long while - be kind to yourself! All the best Em x
Hi, em any advice regards bad pain in arm following ANC. Had op last tue, drain still in out tomorrow. Arm feels like sunburn no painkillers help and can’t soak in bath yet, only position at all comfy is lying down, sick of that. Also feel pains like plaster being ripped from skin but inside arm, I know he cut a nerve assuming its that but cant relieve it at all x thanks
Hi Lol, You may find the pain is being caused by the drain. I was in agony after my ANC, pain killers didn’t touch it and it was purely down to drain touching a nerve, as soon as that came out I was fine, fingers crossed you’ll be the same.
Thank you very much for the advice and replies. It’s weird but compared to other things nothing too much to stress over. Started chemo today so will have that to concentrate on for the next few months. X
Hi all, I had my first surgery, a WLE and four nodes out in 2007 and my armpit is still numb. Also no hair growth, but I think that was the radiotherapy. It’s wierd, when I use a roll-on deodorant I can’t tell when it’s dry!
