October 2017 Chemo Starters

Loving being home thanks jencat clipped my hair to a no 4 this morning, it’s strange because you forget your hair isn’t their anymore and when you get dressed and you don’t have your hair to yank out when you put your tops on is strange. K sorry I thought your baby was 6 months not 8 weeks, were you diagnosed during or after? Yes girls we do have a choo choo with tables with bottles of champers or whatever you want when we celebrate when we are all through???:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Hi all I’m Liz I live in Cheltenham and I’m 50. Grew up in North Wales, lived in Chester for a year and moved here 30 years ago almost to the day! I’m er+ pr+ and her2+ . Had lumpectomy 22cm tumour, clear margins no node involvement. Chemo, rads, Herceptin and tablets for me. One round of six FEC done. Loving the Cilla introductions tonight. Took some catching up with after a day at work and an evening baking for Wear it Pink tomorrow. I’m utterly shattered my fingers and lips are tingling again seems to be tiredness related. Off to bed byes in a minute. Typically everything I touched at work wasn’t straightforward hopefully tomorrow better, want some fun. Was good catching up with everyone. Why do some of my friends and colleagues cry when I tell them what’s been going on but I am yet to shed a tear. Am I weird…Probably best to leave that unanswered!
Glad those new starters are coping on the whole, we are all gently chugging along on this strange old train each day closer to good health. Sleep well all xx

No worries Shi, I wasn’t exactly clear ? I miss my essential oils but don’t want to use them around the little one until she’s 6 months old when it’s generally deemed safe. I was diagnosed in June, had surgery in July, baby was born in August (thankfully at full term) and chemo started at end of Sept. Oh, and our son started school too! To be honest, I’d rather be busy and distracted but it is tiring some days.

I’m so looking forward to the real Dom Perignon when all this is over ? ?

Gosh liz you have had a busy day x
Good luck for tomorrow

I have a low tolerance level of crying people at the moment if I don’t need to cry I don’t want them to it’s not positive or helpful x
I am off to bed shortly so hope everyone sleeps well x

A very busy time reboot so much in a short space of time a lot to get your head around xx

I think it’s harder for those around us to deal with it as they are powerless to help. This is certainly true in my case, I often feel I have to keep insanely positive to support them !
This is why the forum is so valuable !
Sweet dreams ladies xx

Sorry ladies have had such a busy day I’ve only now managed to try & read all the posts to catch up!!

Ive had lumpectomy with clear margins and nodes, stage 3 tho so oncotype test done, came back at 27 but they still decided I needed chemo and rads then tamoxifen!!

Shi I have decided to have hair shaved at my Big Pink day tomorrow…this has upset a few people as they aren’t sure they can handle it…I understand but I think although very scary it may help me accept it better!!  I’ve already sold over £300 in raffle tickets and another £400 through donations…very pleased!!  Also had my wig trimmed this eve so bit happier with that!

right I now need to try get some sleep so I don’t look like a pink zombie tomorrow!!

Night ?:sparkles::sparkles:???

Reboot that must be so tough! Sorry to hear thst this blight has interrupted your maternity leave but hope that you are feeling ok and enjoying snuggles with your baby.

Jencat its good to see you. I am sensitive to smells and noise after treatment and also eat plainish foods. I havent cold capped but CherryB has and i know she wsshes her hair gently in a bowl a couple of times a week. Hope you are feeling ok xc

I’ve just ordered that life Mel honey, how do I take it again ali please? Eye watering price but if it keeps me out of casa nhs for the next 5 rounds worth it, ???bit of dancing called for to hope it works. ???sue and everyone else it’s lovely when we make each other ???with laughter good endorphins isn’t it ???:sparkles::sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

The lady who cut my wig is a good friend so that helped…although when she had finished she made me take it off and shake it then put it back on and I looked like rod steward!!  After a bit of fiddling It was back to normal tho!! Laughter definitely helps me ???

Hubby is back so hopefully I can relax a bit again now although today will be busy!

Ive got hospital appointment with oncologist this afternoon…think it’s just a check up?!

Have a good Friday everyone ???

Good luck with appointment Karen, when are you due next round? ??:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Karana i wss the same with my wig when i put it on myself. Did you buy a care pack with the brush, shampoo, gel etc. Its great.

Shi you have one 5ml spoonful of a morning on an empty stomach and just suck it slowly. Then have one 5ml spoonful before bed at night. I hope it works for us Shi! Get the coconut water as that helps build immunity too. It must be pasteurised though so i have got the M& S one. Doesnt taste great but i am thinking of it as medicine.

My froend who went through chemo 3 years ago said she used to burn tea tree oil in the house to help keep infection awsy too
I havent tried that yet!
Suew hope your apts go well.

Goid luck everyone doing wear it pink today xx

Hi everyone, managed to get cat in carrier with minimal fuss, although it was a two man job and took some bribing with treats to get her into grabbing position ?! That means me, OH and cat have now had our flu jabs this week ?

Karana, you’ve persuaded me that having my wig cut is probably a good idea so will look into that now.

Ha ha Shi like the idea of Wonder Woman pants, perhaps should wear them to chemo session next week and ??? my way in like Ruth! They might end up sending me to a rather different ward! Hope everyone’s having a good day! ?
