October 2017 Chemo Starters

Thanks ali, i’ll Send Mum for the coconut water, i’ll Try anything to keep out of casa nhs. Yeehhh you got the cat, well done. I had to get Mum to get mine in her basket post op, couldn’t risk a scratch on operated side…hope everyone is doing well post piccs and post chemo rounds, we are getting there ladies, won’t it be exciting when we pass no 3 and over half way there then ???:sparkles::sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

I’m definitely up for Wonder Woman outfits! ?️‍♀️

Shame the sea bands don’t come in gold, could pass them off as Wonder Woman bangles!

Shi, OH did cat grabbing as I also didn’t want to get scratched, although this one isn’t too bad (more vocal than scratchy). Last cat used to lacerate anything she came into contact with!

Where’s going to be best for everyone? Birmingham is looking quite central by the looks of it? Let’s have some shout out ladies so we have something to look forward to ??:sparkles::sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Sorry everyone, got confused thought Wonder Woman stuff was during chemo now just had time to read back again and can see it is for the meet up, going to blame it on chemo brain ?

Hi ladies, good luck with all appointments e.t.c today. My hair is shedding like crazy today exactly 2 weeks after 1st chemo but I’m booked in for a cut today so looks like it’s time for the shave which makes me nervous as I have always had long hair. Talking of cats my 2 are now walking round the house complaining about being covered in my hair which makes a change from me being covered in theirs! xx

I am in Birmingham but travelling anything up to about 90 minutes is doable xx

???we all get chemo brain meesh and our forums busy ???so easy to miss something. I’ve asked one of the lovely May chemo ladies to put A link up for any one who is interested about some really good cream that they all use called udderly smooth with added urea from amazon, they advised it is good for sore, red, peeling hands, feet, scalp & face which I think is a se of the t part for those having fec-t but could be useful for those on fec too if anyone starts to have sore feet, hands, scalp, face. So we can all get prepared as best we can for the journey, these are ladies who have gained their chemo badges and know what they are talking about and I am so very grateful that they are helping us Oct girls with their knowledge. ???:sparkles::sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Runnerbean, I’d always had long hair too, go for a grade 4, it’s fine trust me and since I did mine yesterday so far no shedding that I can tell of today, don’t know if it was the weight getting it out quicker before. I’d alredy bobbed mine and sent hair to little princess wigs for kids, they make wigs for children and give them out to them for free. Karana got her trim today too, both of you on pink Friday ???:sparkles::sparkles::sparkles:I am kidding about the Wonder Woman headgear for the meet up ladies, you thought it,d make us all laugh thing about twirling all together when we meet up, we’d look like a flash mob and be posted on utube before we had finished ??? shi xx

Hi Shi, hi October ladies, here’s a link for udderly cream on Amazon amazon.co.uk/Udderly-Smooth-Extra-Cream-118ml/dp/B008XI9C1E/ref=sr_1_8_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1508492843&sr=8-8&keywords=udderly+smooth

Make sure you get the Extra Care cream containing urea. It’s brilliant if you get sore or dry skin from chemo. Good luck everyone!

Just to add, it was recommended by my chemo nurse and also by my oncologist!

???thank you very much tatyana ???love you sending ???:sparkles::sparkles::sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Aaahggh
They do not think my veins can have a picc line apparently they are very small so may have to have a Hickman instead
They are going to try once with picc on Tuesday and if does not go in first time will be Hickman which could delay chemo 2 x

Sue, let’s see what they can do Tuesday, I think all our veins are sinking as far under our skin as is possible in retreat from all the needles, I know mine are. If you have to have the full monty and it gets delayed better to not have it leaking into your hand or anywhere else, frustrating for you but getting through this chemo train as safely as we can is what matters. Can’t wait till we are all ???our way to rads and the ladies still to have their ops are ???to them, just want us all through chemo safely. ???:sparkles::sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Thanks shi for your rational response sometimes it’s easy to get blown away by 1 more thing x of course you are absolutely right x
Guess I am too anxious to just get this done x
Thanks Hun xxx

Welcome sue, we will all have plenty of aaarrgghhh moments, mine was during the 6 days in casa nhs and you all got me through that. We all just want this bit over and done with and we will all get there safely together.:heart:This forum and with us having the added expertise of the May ladies will be our sanity and life saver on this journey ahead and the silly moments only us on this journey can get keeps us ???through the day - bonus eh. ???:sparkles::sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Hi girls really the hair, I honestly can tell you all the worst part of losing it is when it really starts to come out get the shave or the cut if you can before it really gets going I didn’t and regret it, I made myself so anxious and upset watching my lovely uncut hair literally coming out in clumps and handfuls and was distraught by the bald patches, it lasts 3 to 4 days once it starts, I eventually got my sister in law to come round wuthering the clippers and take the rest of and do u know something, the relief was unbelievable it’s quite traumatic even if you think you will be OK better to cut it off than watch it fall ? I think I look OK bald? me and the family embrace the look! ?Haven’t even bothered with a wig, cleverly tied and stylish scarfs work really well aswell as stylish hats and good make up especially for your brows when they eventually go or thin mine just very thin!!
Also I’m treatment 5 out of 6 and have hair just abit like baby fluffy buzz cut on top with a shadow starting from to reappear on sides and back (which I’m hoping doesn’t leave me on day 14 in day 10!!) alot of the others on other threads near me have also experienced hair returned when dozy toxel started!!
Something positive for you all to look forward too knowing it does return, I only cold capped once and for me it didn’t work if it does keep going with it xx
I really hope you all OK when you do the hair thing it gets better hugs and best wishes ?

Apologies for my predictive text blunders in my post everyone checkex after sent it, hope you all don’t mind me sharing my hair loss thing with you all but I think it’s the one thing alot of us dread and wanted to share my experience with you in hope it will make you feel better about it ??

Thank you for sharing mishy x my hair never an issue for me current number 2 from brave the shave and loss not started yet but I know some ladies will find your post invaluable xxx

Ps good job I checked predicted text you was nearly mushy ???
