Just a quick one ladies my Antisickness tabs are metoclopramide for taking after and akynzeo for taking 1hr before chemo and have worked a treat, no nausea or sickness and didnt have any of the ones to take after since day 9. If those of you who are struggling but not in those might be worth seeing if you can try them. Hope that helps anyone who is struggling with nausea and sickness. ??shi xx
I got the akynzeo too x good stuff
Yeh sue, my neutraphils went to Florida for a 6 day break but at least my antisickness worked this round and sucking the ice lollies while they put the one that makes you per like tizer along with the biotene mouth wash has worked too???anything that does go well during chemo is a bonus isn’t it, still can’t believe you girls who are working while having chemo, hard core or what, ???shi xx
Hi ladies, well that’s most of my hair gone I now have a short pixie type cut which I really like but I guess at the rate I’m shedding won’t have for long. It has made me feel so much better to take control of the situation I’m just sorry I didn’t do it sooner. I’ve been working from home this week but I might try and get into the office next week and get a bit of normality back before my next round of chemo on Friday. It would be really good to meet everyone once we all finish our treatments. Even though I don’t always post much it keeps me sane reading your posts and also gives me a good laugh just when I seem to need it xx
Shi, I have never heard of the ice lolly thing. Does that help with the side effects? xx
Hi runnerbean, do plesed you like your hair ??the ice lolly thing is while they are injecting the red one of you are on fec, suck ice lollies during that I got through 6 sainsburys rainbow lollies £1 for 8, perfect size for mouth. Got the deep freeze blocks from Lakeland to go in the cool box as sometimes you don’t get to have your chemo on time. This was a tip other ladies I know gave me to stop mouth sores. If you’ve not had any probs then you should be ok, it was just something I wanted to do to preserve my mouth as best I could if possible. ??hope that helps love shi xx
Thanks Shi, I’m on the FEc-T same as most of us I think but didn’t really suffer with my mouth. Got a couple of ulcers but they healed in a day or 2 so not really a problem. It was tiredness for me I slept for around 2 days solid days 2-4 xx
Karana, hope the fund raising days going g well and if you’ve done your hair now, hope you are happy with it It will grow back, it’s just gone to australia for Christmas like a lot of brits do, it’ll be coming back in the new year ???shi xx
Good evening lovely ladies great to catch up on all your posts as usual. ????
Day 1 didn’t end well, with headache (coldcap?) sickness and photosensitivity. But I had a great party bag from the hospital and wasn’t shy with the Dom Perignon tablets thanks to reading everyone elses advice. Just closed my eyes and breathed for about 12 hours! Couldn’t really sleep.
A huge ??? for Ali and Cassie (did I miss anyone?) for getting back on the train for round two. Hell this treatment takes guts and we should all take that praise. ???
Day 2 is a bit better and concentrating on eating and drinking to manage the sickness and finally over the photosensitivity this evening to fire up the phone. Just came out on Facebook.
I hope all the wear it pink events are going well today.
Shi my new wig arrived today to cheer me up - have only been able to admire it from a distance for now but hope to give it a first go tomorrow. The hair feels pretty good quality, so will have to see how the fit goes!! ?
Have a lovely evening everyone
Oh and on the hair thing I agree with everyone that going for the chop in one way or another is empowering. I am not sure whether my new pixie cut will stay put or not but at least I am in charge of what is happening.
Even though it is a good cut I would never have chosen it as I loved my bob. But it seems my husband and daughter think it is quite fun and my husband said that I look like sigourney weaver in alien!! Hopefully it will give me a similar kick a attitude for the next few months ??
SueW they had trouble with my veins too - are they sending you to radiology to have a go? They needed much more specialised machinary to do mine.
?? crossed but my aunt had the port instead as she didn’t get hers until a few rounds in and she didn’t find it bothered her too much - the idea was worse than the reality.
Hi Ruth, glad you are getting back on track ?oooohhhhh your nikkita wig, can’t wait to hear how it looks, Zoe ball had a great leopard print no on take 2 did you see it. I’ve found taking control over the whole hair isue empowering luckily got out of hospital in time to be able to do at home with a bit of dignity and privacy. Isn’t it lovely tho that our pets have not looked at you wondering who are you, hair or no hair they see us ???shi xx
Ruth they had scanner on me and did all sorts to try and locate a vein then said they will just try once on Tuesday and if does not go in first time will refer me for Hickman
Oh well fingers crossed x
Hi sue, I’ve got a portacath. Don’t know if it’s the same but it’s no bother. Just sits under the skin on my chest between neck and shoulder. I hate needles and find it much easier to deal with. It makes giving blood a cinch. I’ve been in twice this week to have my bloods tested due to one thing and another and it takes seconds rather than the minutes of arm slapping and clenching followed by the routing around to get the vein.
Thanks for the anitsickness med advice too, here I am in day 8 still nauseous!
Dizzy what antisickness meds are you on then different to mine? ??shi xx
Hi Shi,
I got quite a cocktail to use for the first three days but I’m left with just domperidone. Sounds like there are some stronger ones that might do the job. I was given levo too but that just knocked me out and only for the first 3 days.
Rach x
Dizzy, worth asking if you could try those ones I have, worth a try at least, I think sometimes with the nausea and antisickness meds it’s hot or miss and they try you on a range till successful. Have you had much sickness or had it been mainly naisea? ??shi xx
Thankfully just nausea but it’s there all the time like being pregnant ?
Dizzy ring up your onc and tell them you are struggling and could they swap your meds? I am not sure how things work, but worth a try, you need to get food down you to keep strong on the chemo train. Or have you phoned them alredy? ??shi xx
I’m picking up more meds tomorrow but not sure if it’s just more DP. That’ll do for now. I’m really kind of hoping it passes soon, they did say up to day 5 but I’m nothing if not consistent.
