I hope you’re feeling better, Sar_ah! My next cycle is on the 23rd, so one day after you. I’ve decided I’m quitting the day after both cycles so far, but have reconsidered by the end of the first week both times. It is a tough process to go through! As others have reiterated, we’re all here with you! ???
Badboob, how is you, ahem, back passage? It’s so hard to get the balance right with these things. My oncologist is taking the cautious approach, but even mild constipation has meant my piles are back with a vengeance. Feels like I’m passing glass! ? So painful! I need to ask for some suppositories as anbesol isn’t touching it anymore. Apologies all for the TMI! ?
Best of luck with the run and the haircut, Fiona. You can do it! ???
I’m off to work today! A bit ambitious, but excited to be doing something “normal”!
Badboob, I know how you feel with the Ken Dodd look. I was hoping to get to the end of my shampoo bottle but I don’t think it’s worth waiting that long, I won’t have enough hair left to wash ?
I feel quite fortunate that I haven’t had many side effects, unlike some of you and i feel a bit guilty about that It felt like a slight hangover for the first 2 days and apart from falling asleep by 9 every night and waking at 5 each morning (thank goodness for the Kindle) that’s about it. I hope it continues in that manner ??
So, I’ve done my run. Well, I wouldn’t actually say run, more like a jog shuffle but nearly 3 miles of it, with maybe 20% (alright more like 25%) walking. I feel so proud of myself, it’s like I’ve just done the London marathon ???♀️ Now it’s time to clog up the shower (for the last time) and go all Kate Humble curly as I let my hair dry naturally for the first time ever ?
Have fun ladies, it’s going to be a good day today, I can feel it in my bones (or is that just my white blood cells?) ?

Hi
Someone else said to try antihistamines which I will if they don’t change it
This whole journey is a funny old thing
Well done for braving the shave
I don’t think I will be far behind mine seems to leave a trail where I go , keeping me fit with the hoover though hehe x
I’ve definitely got to shave my head tonight. I think enough came out in the shower to provide bedding for a bird’s nest ?. It’s time to go Hubby can get me back for all the times I’ve put a bar code on his head when shaving him ? We’ll be two baldies together ? matching anoraks soon ?
You’re more than welcome ? I discovered red wine is fine for me in week 3, no heartburn and tastes just like it should ??So I might have to celebrate the shave with a cheeky glass ?
I hope all is in order at the allotment ? And you’re right, all that matters is you got out and about.
Take care ladies and big hugs to you all ??

Snap Aneeebel, I went to put allotment for the first time in ages yesterday. It was a gorgeous day. There’s so much work to do there but I just snapped off a few sprouts for dinner, much to my husbands disgust ?? Hopefully I can spend a bit more time there if I’m not feeling too bad. It will be good exercise anyway ?
Fabulous to hear how many of us have now braved the shave and feel all the better for it! Go us! ???
One note of caution is to take care when carrying little ones around in public. My daughter has managed to remove both my wig and a beanie when I was carrying her out and about - much to the surprise of those around us! ?? She seems to think it is a game…??♀️?♀️ Luckily I found it amusing and wasn’t concerned about it, but had I been at work I would have been mortified! You have been forewarned! ??
Hi Lou, I’m from the June thread and I had a Picc Line throughout. It is easy to fit. It all looks a bit clinical but completely painless. The give you an X-ray to check it is in place and that is it! It is kept in place with a clip and an adhesive cover so almost impossible to dislodge! I put a bright cover over the top too, which was nice for the summer. You need to cover it in the shower. Cling film is fine or you can use a Limbo sleeve which some hospitals give you or you can buy from Boots or Amazon. Once fitted everything else s done through the Picc, bloods and chemo. And it is removed easily and painlessly too!! Good luck. Kx
Hi k
Thanks for that info much appreciated, i know it will benefit me because they have trouble getting a vain and even doing my bloods now is a nightmare,
Lou ?
So I braved it and did the shave number three all over, few tears along the way
But it’s done and I don’t think it will be long before the rest goes as my head is sore
Xx
Morning lovely October ladies, how are we all today?
I’m a little bit nervous as I’m going into work today, first time for 3 weeks. I’ll have Erika with me though, my lovely wig ? Like you Kateday my head is still sore and on rubbing it gently this morning I now need to hoover the carpet ? Bald patches are appearing (on my head, not in the carpet ?).
It’s a busy week this week, yesterday was genetics clinic (The answer is a blood test today which takes them about 10 weeks to analyse), routine blood test today, biopsy and onc tomorrow and FEC session 2 Friday ?
Hope you all have a lovely day. Lou, good luck with the PICC fitting, I’m sure you’ll be fine.
Kate day ???well done braving the shave, It is emotional but strangely liberating as you feel like you have taken control back of something ???get yourself off to boots/Debs makeup counters if you can’t get on your Lgfb session and the ladies on the counters will help show you the ‘tricks’ of how to apply makeup while through chemo ???it’s amazing how your eyes will pop when they show you ???Shi xx
Well done to all ladies who have braved the shave this week, we are sooo good ? I’m not brave enough to bare my head to all and sundry, and I certainly don’t think I’ve got the shape of face for a very short haircut.
Aneeebel, Erika and I got on fine at work, although I feel shattered now. She takes a bit of getting used to though. My genetics appointment was really good yesterday, very informative and the test is just providing a blood sample for them to do their scientific thing. Fortunately I was going for bloods today anyway so it was just one more pot for the nurse to fill ?
I think I deserve a glass of vino tonight, well I won’t want it after chemo on Friday so better get a glass in while I can ?
Well i had a disasterous morning went for picc line they sent me for blood test first and with my track record i was dreading going in that room and surprise surprise she could get my blood took 3 attempts and 2 nurses finaly got some so back up to chemo ward for picc and guess what she couldnt do it she tried twice and said " i cant do it i will ask someone else to try but it be friday i will ring you later to tell you time " still havent had a call so dont know what going to happen got to go in morning for oncology appointment so i will go and ask, oh and she did say if the other nurse couldnt do it i would have to have a hicman line instead, so i real fed up now why is nothing simple ?,
Anyway enough of my rant hope you all okay today and had a good one,
Hope you all getting used to your shaves i actualy quite like mine now but i have noticed my scalp a bit dry so need to find out what i can put on it to stop flakey skin, ?
How frustrating for you, Lou! I too was supposed to have a PICC line but ended up with a Hickman line instead (crappy narrow veins and arteries too close by). I was annoyed at the time, but I’m really pleased with my Hickman line now - although showering is a bit of a challenge.? It was quite painful for a few days but I don’t even notice that it is there now. Getting it fitted is a bit more involved compared to a PICC line - a surgeon fitted it for me in theatre, under local anaesthetic (some people are also sedated) - but it only took an hour or so.
I’m sorry you had a bad day Lou. Why didn’t they wait and take the bloods from the Picc?! Hopefully they will do it on Friday. For your scalp you could try E45 or Aveeno. Or get some Doublebase from your doc (free prescriptions!). Or Moo Goo from Amazon. These are all good for the dry skin that chemo gives you. Kx
