October 2018 Chemo starters

How are we doing ladies? Hope chemo is going well today.

Looks like I’m in tonight too. Bloods gone from 0.06 yesterday to 0.38 today ??but temp going up again at 37.8? Mouth swab says no infection or flu. I know I’m in the right place but I don’t want to be here. I just want to cry now but what’s the point as I’ve got to accept the situation. I’m tired too which makes the emotions worse.

I’m sorry for going on, I’m not always this miserable honest ?

Take care everyone

Oh Fiona, how frustrating for you! As Badboob and Aneebel have already said, we’re all thinking of you and hoping that you recover as quickly as possible! Fingers crossed you’re well enough to go home tomorrow.???

Yay Aneebel, we have crossed off chemo #5.?? I survived spending almost 7 hours in the chemo unit (actually, I took my laptop with me and was surprisingly productive!) and didn’t suffer any adverse reactions to the herceptin.? Good news!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. Let us know how you get on, Fiona! Xox ???

I hope you’re feeling better too, Sar_ah! Xox

Morning Ladies

I’m so pleased to hear that yesterday went well for you on chemo, Aneeebel and ElliesMum. Let’s hope the s/e’s are kind to you both this time round??

Shi, thanks for your kind words. Let’s hope those dances work. I feel loads better, actually slept til about 2 this morning. My temp is good and behaving itself. ??for the bloods later this morning. I’m feeling positive.

Wishing you all a lovely Saturday ???

?Fiona xxx

Thanks Fiona, and so pleased that you’re starting to feel better. Shi’s neutrophil dance ? has been super effective in the past, so fingers crossed it works for you! I hope your blood counts jump up very soon and you make it home today. ??

Keep your heads up, ladies. We are over half way through chemo now. We can do this! ???

Thanks ElliesMum. I don’t think they’ll let me go today. I don’t know what my blood count is but I’m low on potassium so they’ve put me on a drop for 8 hrs. So much for me feeling positive.

I hope you all have a good day ??
?Fiona xxx

I’m sorry you have to stay in hospital a little longer, Fiona, but good that your team are doing something about your low potassium while you’re there. Could you get your husband or a friend to bring you a goody bag to make your stay more tolerable? I’m thinking eye mask, headphones, decent food, proper coffee (if your taste buds have returned). Maybe binge on Netflix or iPlayer box sets? Watching “The Good Place” got me through my stay - perfect blend of light-hearted/easy viewing whilst still being interesting. Thinking of you! Xox ???

Noooo it’s just not fair. Potassium was because my kidneys weren’t performing so well. Blood count has reacted to the ???and is 7.something. great news. Bad news is they will swap me to oral antibiotics but want to keep an eye on me for at least 24 hrs. So I guess I’m not home until Monday ??

I wouldn’t mind so much if they’d have given me an idea of what might happen and how long it could potentially take.

Stay safe and warm ladies ?? sending you big hugs from Casa NHS ???

?Fiona xxx

Sorry to hear you’re being kept in for a bit longer, Fiona. ? Big hugs! Hopefully the extra day in hospital helps get you back on track. Fingers crossed for some smooth sailing for the rest of this cycle! ??

How are the rest of you ladies getting on? I’m ok so far after my second T chemo on Friday, although I’m still bracing myself for the side effects to kick in over the next few days. I’m hoping the reduced dosage (and extra meds) will help me tolerate things better this time around!

Love and hugs to you all! Xox ???

Hi Ladies…

How are you feeling Fiona? Any news on your discharge day yet? Good news that your bloods are improving! ? Keep your chin up! ?? x

Elliesmum… how are you doing after chemo on Friday? ??? x
I’m sooòoo tired…I feel fairly well up to now, albeit a bit qweasy! Let’s hope it stays this way!

Hope all you lovely ladies are okay… stay strong!
Have a good day xx ??

Afternoon ladies

I’m so pleased to hear that you’re both doing well, Aneeebel and ElliesMum

I’m still in I’m afraid. My neuts were up to 7 something yesterday but blood test today says something called kracken (I’m not sure this is the right wird) which forms the bloid molecules isn’t quite there yet. So I’m back on the drip for 8 hrs. Oral antibiotics started last night añd pleased to say no adverse reaction. Blood test again in morning.

Take care ladies, enjoy your Sunday.

?Fiona xxx

Oh Fi it’s frustrating. Glad you are getting on ok with oral antibiotics and good to see your team taking brilliant care if you and getting you dripped up ??best to have the full works to keep safe no matter how ???it is :heart:You won’t be ymca’ing with the drip go join me and the girls in a quick agadoo (hope you are old enough to remember that one) ???keep ???we’ve got hold of you ???:sparkles::sparkles::sparkles:Shi xx

Thanks Shi and yes I’m old enough to remember Agadoo. I’m more positive today fortunately and ha e accepted that it will be tomorrow at the earliest. They’ve only got the one 8 hr drip planned for me, nothing for tonight as far as I’m aware.

If I’d have known how long it might take I’d have accepted it easier but I didn’t really get much feedback.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow’s blood test.

Hi Fi ??yes it can feel like a long time especially over a weekend are you in the goldfish bowl or did you manage to bag your own room? If you get own room you can pretend it’s hotel room (basic) but still less noise ?? keeping ???you get home tomorrow, on the plus side you are being kept safe and monitored which is exactly what you want so you can ???celebrate ringing the chemo bell (hope your unit has one) ??any requests for the chemo jukebox for us all to dance at the bottom of your bed to tonight? ???:sparkles::sparkles:Shi xx

Hooray, they’re letting me out tonight ???

?Fiona xxx

???Fi ???great news :heart::heart:ymca on the ???all round, have a lovely nights sleep back in own bed ???:sparkles::sparkles:Shi xx

Yay Fiona, woohoo! So glad you’re back at home. ?

I hope you are all feeling ok. Big hugs! ???

Thank you Ladies for all your kind words and warm wishes ?

I have to say it is sooooooo nice to be back at home and to have had a decent night’s sleep without any machines bleeping or obs being taken etc. Being at home is so good mentally for a person to heal, isn’t it?

I was a bit anxious last night, being away from that safety net of hospital care but I’m getting there. I now know how the system works and am already getting the bag packed in preparation for another visit.

How are you all? I hope you’re all good and s/e are being kind to you all.

Take care, stay safe and warm and ???
???
?Fiona xxx

Good work calling in your raised temperature, Aneeebel!!! Very pleased they checked you over and will follow-up tomorrow. Best to be pro-active and nip things in the bud as soon as possible! ??

I’m feeling ok, thanks ladies. Side effects are starting to kick in, as anticipated, but it hasn’t been terrible so far. Fingers crossed the reduced dosage helps! Xox ???
