Odd symptom after lumpectomy

Hi, I had a lumpectomy and slnb 6 days ago and all seems to be going well. However I do seem to have an odd glugging noise in my breast - only I can hear/feel it. Is this normal? or due to fluid not yet having properly drained away? Should I be doing anything about it? Thank you!

Hi @anne3. It sounds like what I had after mine. It was like a hot water bottle noise when i went up stairs or moved suddenly. I couldn’t see a lump but I believed it was a sort of seroma filling the cavity inside where breast lump was removed. Whatever it was, it disappeared in a week or so. Hope you recover well. X

Hi @bluesatsuma - thanks! As long as it’s sort of normal that’s ok. Good to know yours did disappear! Just disconcerting to hear it, thought it was external at first not inside :flushed:.
Thanks though

Hi anne3

Thanks for posting asking about the fluid in that you can hear and feel in your breast since surgery.

As @bluesatsuma mentions some people develop a collection of fluid in their breast after surgery called a seroma. For most people this will usually be reabsorbed by their body a few weeks after surgery for some it can take several weeks to resolve. It may help to contact your breast care nurse or treatment team if the fluid is causing you any discomfort and they will be able to assess you and offer further advice.
