Well I’ve just been to see onc today to discuss starting my herceptin. I must admit the last 7 months have passed in a complete whirl (didn’t seem like it at the time lol) - but I now have mastectomy, 4 x chemo, rads and 3 x chemo under my belt - just 17 herceptins to go !!
Have Muga scan next Tuesday - then they think there will be a 4 week delay before strting the herceptin as my veins are so bruised from the chemo, so they want to give them time to recover.
First 2 are being done at the hospital, and I have to hang around for 6 hours each time in case of allergc reaction, assuming everything ok after that a company called Healthcare at Home come and do the infusion at my house.
Very civilised !!
I’ve been reading the herceptin side effects thread - doesn’t seem too bad - fingers crossed !

Hi Margaret - I won’t be having Herceptin, but hope that you can soon “link up” with others who are, and get the same kind of support that we all gave each other while we had the chemotherapy. There is another thread about “Healthcare at Home” - what a good idea, and glad you can have that. Do hope that the Herceptin will be a whole lot less troublesome for you than the chemotherapy was. Thinking of you and good luck. Have you been away in the caravan again - or is that a sore topic for now?! Love Sarah xx
Hi Sarah
I’m certainly feeling more positive about the herceptin than I have about anything - though given my luck just lately I’ll feel better when I get the heart scan out the way and I know everythings ok lol.
I have just booked another holiday away in the caravan, but not until 2 August. My eldest daughter gets married on 26th July so this will be the calm after the storm. Hopefully we will fare a lot better on this holiday than on the last one. We are going up to Fort William - so I’ll be able to go and take a peek at the stupid big mountain I’m supposed to be climbing in October !! Ben Nevis here I come…
Hope the rads are going well for you
take care
