Hi i have been on Tamox for 7 months and have had really bad SE. It has nearly split me and my oh up. Went to see the onc again and he has taken me off them for a month to make sure it’s the Tamox. One week on and i am amazed at how different i feel, i feel like my old self again i had no idea i felt that different. He has said i will probably get my ovaries out and start on Arimidex next.
Has this happened to anyone else and what are the se of Arimidex?

I lasted 3 months on tamoxifen till I was taken off. Violent temper (with the poor grand children) and OH, terrible leg and foot cramps, spasms in the night with body going all stiff and to cap it all a tiny clot that blocked the artery behind an eye for 5 minutes.
I’ve been on Arimidex now for 9 months and the old lady side effects with bone aches and stiff joints were absolutely awful - even though I am not a young lady. However I take two glucosamine & chondroitin tabs every day and these have banished the aches and stiffness.
Make sure you get a bone scan as well because aromatase inhibitors like arimidex do speed up bone loss and you may need to take extra calcium, vit D3, magnesium (in AdCal tabs) and a bone strengthener.
I definitely feel better on arimidex than tamoxifen.
