One step forward.... two back...

… at my original biopsy I was told I had a 3cm grade 2 IDC, I had a WLE and Node biopsy on 5th Oct.

The results came back NO clear margins from the 6 cm taken and wide spread IDCS, all 4 nodes taken cancerous.

Bone and CT scans were clear (phew!) but they found some enlarged lymph nodes in my tummy which they now want to biopsy before starting Chemo - yet more delay - today, 7 weeks from the first biopsy, I got letter (also sent to my GP) saying it’s Grade 3 !!!

I’m going out of my mind with worry, I am hoping that someone out there has come through somehting like this ?

Hi Peachez

Sorry that the news seems to keep getting worse. It is not unusual to go from a grade 2 to a grade 3 after the tumour is removed, because they go on the highest grade cells they find anywhere in the whole tumour. It may be mostly grade 2, but if there are just a few grade 3 cells in there they class it as grade 3. This is so they can treat it at it’s most aggressive. It helps them make their decisions about chemo options etc. I really hope you get some good news soon to lift your spirits. Debx

Thanks Deb, with your post and the Diazapam I have just taken (first time in a week but I’ve gone cold and shakey again ) , I may actually get some sleep tonight! I spoke to my BCN at 5pm about the wait for the Chemo date, but forgot to ask about this- note to self: must use notes in future!

I forgot to say the letter also said I was “ER8 PR7 and HER Neg” , I think this is supposed to be ‘good’? to be very ER sensetive??

I think oestrogen sensitivity is measured out of 8 so 8 is top marks!
It means you can be treated with Tamoxifen or Aromatase Inhibitors after your initial treatments so the protective treatment continues.
I was told it was good news!

Thanks Dotchas, saw my GP this morning who said the strong ER8 makes it a lot easier to treat. Also saw a letter the Hosp had sent her saying they were going for a “curative” outcome.

She backed up what you said too Midge, that they will take the worst case senario where the cells are concerned, but that it can be a mix overall. I have decided not to ask for any further details!

I still have to hope that this wretched needle biopsy on Tuesday goes well, otherwise I will have to wait for a laperoscopic which will delay the Chemo even more.

Love and best wishes Pxx

Just to update, the biopsy went well and they got the samples. The Doc was a real star and did all he cold to calm me down. he even took the samples to the Path Lab personally! … more waiting now, results on Monday 8th, when I’m hoping to hear the start date for my Chemo. Love to all. Pxxx

Hi all,

Just to let you know that the local Path Lab was floored by the biopsy sample from my mystery tummy lump, it has now been sent to St Thomas’ in London; another 2 week wait !!

My Onc has put me on Femara in the meantime… and to think back at the beginning of September I thought I was just going to have lump out and Rads… Oh boy…
