oophrectomy pain or liver mets???

Had a stitch like pain in my right hand side for a few months now. Not really, really painful, but just enough to notice.

I had oophrectomy in December, via keyhole. Op was worse than I was led to believe.

My saving grace is that occasionally I get the same in the left side as well.

So I would like to ask two questions to you lovely ladies
a) Has anyone experienced this kind of discomfort after oophrectomy.
and
b) Do you suffer pain with early stage liver secs? (I say early as I had a scan 1 year ago, nothing then, then I had 6 months of chemo which worked well on primary so therefore wouldnt have thought that any secs could grow at that time, and also my cancer was grade 2 stage 2 which I think is a medium growing cancer)

Sorry for waffling, im at that stage where treatment is nearing the end and am fearful of every ache and pain. Oh and Im half way through herceptin.
Thanks

Hi Ness

Can’t comment on the oopherectomy, but I have had liver mets for a year now and they have never caused me any pain. It it wasn’t for regular CT scans I wouldn’t know they were there!

If you are worried it might be worth call to your BCN

All the best

Fiona

Thank you for replying Fiona and for the comment.

just bumping up to see if it catches anyone elses eye

Hey Ness

Sorry to hear you have this worry. Like Fionam, I have never had pain in my side from my liver mets and wouldn’t know I had them if I hadn’t been told it was so!

I like to think its unlikely that you have mets but the best solution is to get it checked out. The waiting for results will be horrid as usual but will hopefully be worth it! If it helps my mum still gets twinges and pains from her hysterectomy/oophectomy nearly 4 years ago

Thinking of you. And sending apologies for not being in touch.

Take care - I’ll check how you go on!

Hi Ness
I had ovaries out with keyhole last yr and did have some pain but it was mainly around my navel. Its hard to not worry but I am sure that the clinic will be really supportive, my bc was in 2006 and I still think what’s this if I get an ache or something I think is different.
Thinking of you and hoping that you will get good news, let me know how you get on
take care xxx

Hi Ness,
I had oophrectomy and felt a discomfort in all three places where the stitches were for well over 12 months. Would not pain more like a sharp pull then it was gone.
I have had liver mets for 5 years and this last week is the only time it has been painful. Have you got swelling under the rib cage? It is really difficult to give advice on this as we are all different my onc says younger people have more pain than older.
Contact your oncology dept and ask for an urgent appointment better to be safe than sorry.
Good luck.

Hi ladies, thanks for the replies, its nice to get other peoples opinions on things.

Debs, I have read many of your posts over the past year, you are remarkable, secondries 5 yrs+. Well done you.

I am younger (37),and my BC was discovered due to pain rather then a lump in the first instance. The pain I describe does not sound like the one that ‘pulled’ around the keyhole areas, mine is more of a stitch. I have, again, just checked under my ribs for any swelling, cannot find any. I know I should go and get it checked out, but there is a part of me that just doesnt want to know! Stupid I know, but I am going on holiday in 6 weeks time and then as soon as i get back I will be having my recon which I am sooooo looking forward to. I darnt have the liver scan (if they offered it to me) in case they cancel my recon if its bad news.

Hi Ness

Go for the scan - piece of mind is priceless. Plus if it was anything sinister, it might need treatment. A recon is no good if your overall health isn’t good. They’ll still give you one even if it was delayed - I’m planning to have one eventually!

I know what you mean about not wanting to know. I was just the same. I still am but I know I need to know so ‘whatever’ can be attended to.

Go on. You can do this.
