Operation Date Received Dear All,

Mastectomy and DIEP reconstruction will be on Sept 27th - was hoping for Sept 13th as it gives me longer to recover before an event that I am catering for on October 14th. Will call hospital on Tuesday to see if I can change it.

Hi Gail

Glad to hear you have a date for your op. I don’t think I would have been fit enough to cater for an event only 17 days after an op like this. Even after 24 days I would think you would be totally shattered by trying to do it.
Over three months to wait for your op seems a long time . Waiting a month seemed ages to me. See if you can hurry them up then it would give you a much longer time to recover before the event.

Hi Gail
Just sent you a pm on bcpals…im 17 days tomoro…cant even manage a roast on my own …say no more…on the up side my dcis has been hanging around for 18 months and is still nicely contained…therefore for the sake of those 2 weeks could you manage to wait til after the catering date…thats if earlier is out of the question…as ive said on my pm…3 moths is the earliest they suggest returning to work…at 3 to 4 weeks you are still in the early stages of healing…im doing well but thats doing relatively very little…

I think you are pushing yourself too hard regarding your recovery.

Be kind to yourself. From someone who really knows what you are going through.

I haven’t had reconstruction only a mastectomy and that is hard enough to cope with.
