Well I went for my pre op assessment today and my god the NHS are working fast at the moment! My op is booked for Monday next week. The speed at which everything is happening is frightening to say the least, I was only told I would be having an op at the clinic on Wednesday. Has anyone else had such a speedy response?

Hi Diddy
I have always had a quick turn round on having my lumps checked out. The CT scans and ops always take longer unless I have been pro active and phoned every day for a cancellation.
Good Luck For Monday.
Take care

Hi Diddy
I saw my GP on a Monday, the Breast clinic the next Tuesday for a Mammogram, Ultra Sound and Needle Biopsy, went back the next Tuesday for the results and had a Lumpectomy two days later and Easter was in the middle of this. People I met at Chemo with other Cancers said you people with Breast Cancer are very lucky as other Cancers take longer to diagnose and treat.

HI Diddy,
I too saw my GP monday ,then the breast clinic following thursday, had the mamo, scans, needle and core biopsys done and had the results within 45 mins on the same day, then wednesday had WLE and sentinel node sampling , things do move very fast (which is good) although a lot to take in at the time .Good luck with the op.
All the Best

I saw my doctor on the Friday and went to the breast clinic on the Tuesday. Results of biopsy took a further two weeks though. One week later had my WLE and SNB. Another two weeks for results, then one week later mastectomy and clearance. Very quick it’s just the results that take weeks!!
Hi Diddy,
I was diagnosed on March 19th, had my pre-op on the 21st then had my op on the 29th! I know people sl*g off the NHS but personally I couldn’t fault them! It was all a bit of a blur but I’m ever so glad I got seen so promptly. They weren’t hanging around and for that I will be eternally grateful!
Take care, all the best for your op,
I wish you a very speedy recovery,
Kelly

Hi Diddy
I too had a quick turnaround with the nhs dx to op. was picked up at routine mammogram, called back for scan within week, saw consultant three days later offered date for masectomy within two weeks, although I asked for a slightly later date as wanted to get my daughter settled into new school, they were very accomodating and said that as it was early dcis, a couple of weeks would make no difference, gave me date of 4th oct than rang and changed it to 28th sept as they had a cancellation, staff at hospital were first class and there was no rush for me to go home, told me the bed was mine until I felt I was ready to go home, cannot fault the nhs at all. Only thing I will say is that they have sent my appointment for the attention of my parent or guardian??? hmn different I suppose.

Hi all
not been around for a bit, licking the wounds! Had the op (hadfield’s), been back to clinic on Friday and for the first time saw consultant not the registrar who told me as I went down to theatre that this procedure “would not cure the pain, that was something that would clear up with the menopause, these are things you must deal with when God made you a woman”!!! How dare he and I’m only 38! How many years of pain did he want me to have??!
Anyway enough of him…histology on ducts show no malignancy…yiipppppeeeee!!! Just severe duct ectasia and fibocystic changes. I asked him about the lump and pain I had. The registrar reported there was no lump! You can see it not just feel it! Anyway just when I thought all the worrying and waiting was over with good news he then did a core biopsy and I now have another week to wait and another trip to clinic next Friday!
Don’t think this is ever going to end. Apart from all the discomfort and bruising from ops and biopsies within 10 days I don’t think my husband can cope with this emotional wreck for much longer!
Sorry I really do feel like I am moaning when there are others in a much worse position than me…hats off to you all.
