hi everybody
I am having my operation on tuesday i am having a WLE and auxillary clearance, i have a cold at the moment and a dry cough, i am praying it clears for tuesday, i have a marker where the tumour was (chemo has shrunk the tumour so much it doesnt show on the scan ) i am going to my local hospital at lancaster to have a fine wire inserted in my breast , then i have to go to another hospital to see the surgeon who will perform my operation he will be guided by the wire that will be placed in the morning and take the operation from there, , has anybody else had this procedure?

Hi Galen,
I had the above done on my right boob, cancer in my left but they detected small lump in right as well and removed at same time. They ultrasound it first then cover boob in local anaesthetic and insert wire it didn’t hurt at all and they tape it all up so it cannot be pulled out. I didn’t have my operation untill following day. Try and not worry and good luck for your op they roved the lump in my left boob and all my lymph nodes. Was in hospital for 3 days and then home with drains that stayed in for a week, they were a real pain in the bum. Take in a good book.
with love

hi galen
You will be fine. I had same op and it was ok. I was in hospital 3 days. 3 months on my scars have almost gone under armpit. Do the exercises though. They really help recovery. A warning though. When i had my next op, a mastextomy 4 weeks later (just my luck!) i had a cough when i went in. I ended up with a nasty chest infection for the whole week in hospital and coughing really hurt! perhaps get it checked?
All the best
Ruth
