Options and recovery times

Hi all. Just been diagnosed with medium grade DCIS following my first routine mammogram. Was told a week ago following the core biopsy and saw my BC last night. Have not cried at all but soooo stressed and constant headaches with all the waiting. Anyway, I need to have a another biopsy a couple of days before xmas to look at the sentinel lymph node and then likely to have an mx with reconstruction as it is widespread. No mention yet of radiotherapy or chemo but assume that will depend on results of the next biopsy. If I only need the mx with immediate reconstruction (well I was told about an insert that could be pumped up later), how long do you think I would be off work. I have a very busy job with a lot of international and domestic travel and although my boss is being great at the moment I am concerned about how long i may be off work, especially knowing that I will be quite uneven until they can reduce the other breast about 6 months later so will also be very self-conscious.
I guess I will hear more as time moves on from my BS and BCN but it all seems so much so soon and I want to try to maintain some type of control and have something to work towards to resume “normal” life.
Any thoughts or comments would be very much appreciated though, especially if you have gone through the same thing.
You are all a great inspiration and it is comforting to be able to talk to others in the same situation. Best wishes to all

Hi lelly61
My situation was very much the same as yours . I went to the doctor with a cyst in my left breast in July was sent to the breast clinic and after 2 biopsies was told i had medium grade dcis after 2 WLE was told i would have to have MX as they could not get a clear margin . On the 23rd of November i had MX with SNB and LD reconstruction was in hospital for 5 days but could have stopped longer if i wanted . I am hoping to go back to work mid Jan to light duties as i am a catering manager in a high school and do lots of lifting . The SNB came back clear so no more treatment required . Hope this helps in some small way I consider myself very lucky compared to what some have to go through

Happy new year to you !! Hope all goes well
