A brief history - my wife was diagnosed with triple neg in June, and given the choice of surgery first or chemo first. With the size of the tumour, the surgery would have been mastectomy. Chemo first she might get a lumpectomy.
She chose chemo first and was prescribed 4*EC, 4*TAX. She has had a rough time on chemo, but has only one TAX to go on Thursday.
We went to see the surgeon on Tuesday, and he did a scan. He could see no sign of the tumour! is phrase what that the chemo appears to have been completely effective.
We were rather pleased with that. One chemo, lumpectomy and radio to go, but that news makes it more tolerable.
What brilliant news. So now your wife should only need a lump removing not the whole thing - so much better! A suitable reward for being brave enough to go the chemo route. x
Wonderful! That sort of news helps me get to sleep. Like you, I am not physically affected by this vile disease but it has invaded my life on a very personal level. Big hugs and smiles! x
woo hoo brilliant news and makes the last chemo even more tolerable make sure you have a big end of chemo party. Rads will go over quick too and not nearly as scarey .Ive just fifnished all my treatment 2 weeks ago xxxxxx Julie
Thanks so much for posting, I’m triple negative too but had my 2.5cm lump removed first so dont know if my chemo worked ‘disinfecting’ the rest of my cells… your story gives me hope! xxx
Thanks for sharing your story, it is great to hear that the chemo is worth it, I start mine soon. I also had triple negative tumour, which was removed with a lumpectomy, so the chemo is a mop up exercise for me.
Thanks for all the messages. It is only really when we got the news of the lack of lump, and the way I have felt since that I realised how much this has affected me.
