I was diagnosed in '5 had wide excision, chemo x 4 months and xray x 25 sessions now back in other breast had x2 mastectomy. still producing oestrogen, surgeon recommends ovarian excision. Anmyone else had this?

Sorry to hear that you’re having to go through this again. My situation was similar in that Tamoxifen didn’t work for me and I got a recurrence, though mine was behind the sternum. Part of my treatment second time around was to have my ovaries removed so that I would have less oestrogen in my system and also, so that I could try one of the Aromatase Inhibitors (Arimidex), instead of Tamoxifen. My op was just over two years ago and so far, so good. Yes, there are side effects to take into account, particularly if you are going to have a premature menopause (I was 35 at the time of my oopherectomy), and you really should discuss these with your onc and / or BC nurse. But two years on and still with No Evidence of Disease, I’m happy that my onc and I made the right decision for me.

Thank you for the support. I rather hoped that after the excision that would be it. So, there maybe a possibility that I will still have some hormone therapy?? If it keeps IT away then so be it. Consultation on 26th March will let you know how it goes
