week after WLE surgery and had more pain today than I’ve had all week. Apart from paracetamol the day after the op I have not needed anything. Is this pain because it’s healing? Is it feeling coming back? It is a week and a half before go back so I am just wondering has anyone else experienced this? Thanks x

Hi Ali I remember mine got a bit more painful as the week went on & like you I hadn’t really used painkillers. I was told it could be because the intravenous painkiller they gave you before the op had warn off & like you say it’s because it’s starting to heal. Are you managing to do the gentle exercises they suggest? If it does get worse & you are worried it might be worth phoning your BC nurse so she can put your mind at rest or advise you if there is a problem. Wishing you all the best xx
Thanks Anita. They didn’t tell me to do any exercises. I called in to see my nurse yesterday and she thinks it is the steri strips pulling on my skin so I have had a shower and waiting for them to come off…I think I just wasn’t expecting pain as I hadn’t had any. As she said though I also have stitches inside. Hoping they heal soon.
I had a WLE 2 weeks ago and needed painkillers for a good week and a half afterwards. I hadn’t expected it to be so painful and my GP was incredulous that the hospital had told me to take paracetamol!
It will be 3 weeks on Monday but my breast is so sensitive and painful. My BCN told me to call 8n and see her in Monday morning if it’s no better x
Hi Ali49 and EliB and Anita. I’ve just had my WLE and was amazed that the pain was not as bad as the microdochectomy. Does the pain get worse in a couple of weeks then? I’ve only took 1 pain killersx last night to get me to sleep but don’t need at the moment. How are you all now following this procedure. I’ve had my nipple removed as well so that’s where all the pain was before. Have any of you started the radiotherapy yet?
Yes more painful for me after a week or so Coralie. I think there is no pain afterwards as a local anaesthetic is applied during the op - so the recovery nurse told me. Take regular painkillers if it does become painful. I alternated paracetamol and ibuprofen xx
Yes Ali, I wanted to find out if there was pain after as I’m surprised there’s not much pain now. I actually had a central resection and haven’t read much about it on the forum. I have to have radiotherapy in January. nothing’s been planned yet
I have had my 3rd session of radio today and so far ok. All of my apts are 9am
I get there about 8.50 and I’m back in the car by 9.10! The radiographers are lovely too. Very reassuring xx
Ahh that’s good not too disruptI’ve. And your driving ok? I was worried if you could drive on it. Thanks for the reassurance
I have driven myself there and back up to now Coralie. I will just see how it goes and if it needs to change it will xx
