Hi, I had a WLE and SND on my right breast and armpit on 23rd Dec and since then I have had a bruised like tender area at the top of my right side on and around my shoulder blade/ribs??
Has anyone else experienced this?
I had mx in September 09, followed by chemo and rads. I have a sore spot in what sounds like a similar place to yours from the mx. I would place it as where the bra strap goes, I also have a sore spot around the rib under where my breast was. I got more sore after radiotherapy, the oncologist has said that it is the muscles that are causing the pain and hopefully it will pass. I have learnt to live with it most of the time, except sometimes it can be painfull wearing a bra. I also get shooting pains especially under my armpit told this is common after lymph node removal. The latest is the scar tissue gets very itchy.
I would suggest a mention to your breast surgeon or BCN should put your mind at rest,operations can cause similar pains to the ones you discribe, but best to get it checked out.

I’ve got the pain exactly where you have too. Have queried with the breast nurse and apparently its normal x
Strangely I have a pain in exactly the same place after dx and before treatment. It is only a 1cm cancer but I am wondering if perhaps I’m imagining it, it is tension and muscular (I sure I am holding my bad side cautiously) or whether there are some kind of tissue/lymph links between the breast and that spot. Don’t want to think about that too much in case it means it has spread. At ;east you know you have this on road to recovery and fingers crossed it eases soon xx
Hi, thanks for your responses, I had my full node clearance on Thursday this week and mentioned the pain to my consultant and he said alot of women have this it is quite common! As I have had a full clearance now he said it might get abit worse before it gets better! Take care and best wishes to you all xx
