Pain relief

Hello all, first time post for me, day 10 after having lumpectomy and nodes out, my boob still feels like a really heavy brick! I have some pain too, not excrutiating, more aching and the occasional stabbing feeling. Is it ok to take ibuprofen? I’ve only been told to take paracetamol. Many thanks in advance xx

Hi, I was sent home with some pretty strong pain killers, codeine phosphate, and I was told I could take both paracetamol and Ibruprofin - obviously not all at the same time!!! I was told to stay on top of the pain and not wait for it to arrive . So, to take the pills at regular intervals throughout the day . I’m afraid I’m a bit of a wuss, so took everything they gave me. You need to phone your GP or your Onco nurse and get help. I’ve found they are very helpful and supportive. Good luck. X

Hi,

I’m astonished you’ve only been told to take paracetamol. I was offered a presciption for Ibuprofen as well (which I’m not meant to take because of my blood-pressure) and di-hydrocodeine and told I could take both Ibuprofen and paracetamol four times a day, plus the heavy stuff at bed-time.

Best advice I had was ‘don’t wait til the pain is bad to take the medication’. Take it as soon as you get a twinge.

Best wishes for your healing

Lin

Thank you so much for the advise ladies, love and hugs xx
