Bobbie aka Corsa

Corsa, I read your mail and you struck a cord with me straight away I am 47 and have had two tumours removed and I am due a bone scan on the 2nd jan. I have just had the most wonderful Christmas with my 3month old grandaughter who I love with all my heart and that was the one thought that try as hard as I could I could not stop worrying that it may be the only Christmas and spend with her, However I have told myself that I will fight this. The stabbing pain you have descrbed I have had and been reasurre that it is natural it is due to the nerves in the breast that was removed.

Hi Corsa…I have lots of stabbing pains still and I finished my treatment November 06, op in April 06, I also noticed it seemed more tender while I was having chemo, please discuss it with your chemo nurse , they are great . This time last year I had the same worries as you, but they never go away, but they do fade as you return to normal life.

Best wishes for your treatment, and good luck

Hugs

Hi Corsa, I had WLE and SNB in Sept. I have had the stabbing pains, sometimes they’ve been strong enough to make me catch my breath. My onc explained that it is the nerves trying to re attach themselves and it could go on for anything up to 6mths. They did increase slightly with my rad treatment but the rad nurses reassured me that it was quite common. Mine have virtually stopped now. Treatment ended 3rd Dec.
I have yet to have the pleasure of grandchildren but hope that will change within the next 3-4 yrs so I have to stay positive.
Good luck with your scan Monkeyface.

Hello Bobbie
I’m the same age as you.
I had WLE and axillary clearance in December 06 and since the surgery have had a lot of stabbing pains and other kinds of pain in my affected breast . The onc said it is quite normal - just the nerves ‘waking up’. The surgeon said it is normal to have pain for at least a year afterwards.

Don’t be alarmed if the pain gets worse after chemo. I had increased pain after each chemo and still get some - especially after Herceptin - but again I’ve been told not to worry as this is normal.

Good luck with your chemo.

Hi Bobbie

Any change in type of pain or level of pain like you have with this stabbing pain, I was told that if I do too much then I would experience increased pain so slow down girl you move too fast!!!

I had left mast and lat dorsi recon on 1 Dec and have throughout my back, my side, my booby and my buttock and thigh the following variety of pins and needles, numbness, stabbing, burning and dull aching pains also contraction pain similar to childbirth in my back and my new booby. All of these lessen when I have had a quieter day with lots of feet up time mixed with low key walk abouts and very little housework etc.

Kick off those shoes and relax, take care, hope you feel much better very soon.
