PAINFUL BREAST AND SWOLLEN LYMPH NODES

Hi, just looking for some advice really. I’m 37 yr mummy to 4 lovely children. My left Breast has been giving me some problems for a couple of weeks, have got some thickening and a lump, I’ve been to doctors who have referred to Breast clinic and should have an apt in two weeks. Since then i have noticed that my Lymph nodes are up by my collarbone. I’m really anxious and scared it could be cancer. Any thoughts or comments would be great. THanks for reading x x

Hi,

I don’t have any advice as I’m waiting to have a lump checked also, but I can imagine how worried you must be and I just wanted to say I hope your apt goes well.

Rosie xx

Hi paulabee

Breast cancer care have a booklet about being referred to the breast clinic, which you may find helful. It includes information on what to expect when you go to the clinic and can be found by going to the following link:-

breastcancercare.org.uk/server/show/nav.718/changeTemplate/PublicationDisplay/publicationId/59

I hope you find this helps.

Kind regards
Sam (BCC Facilitator)

Hi Paula, I can’t make it any better right now I am sorry, but just wanted to say I am thinking of you and what you are going through. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt and I know how totally terrifying it is.

I hope it is nothing bad and a simple infection of a cyst or similar

{{{hugs}}}

Nikki

Paula - also just wanted to send you some hugs and hope that is turns out to be an infection or something simple…

Hi Paula,

I’m sure you’re worried but i shall have my fingers crossed and hope it turns out to be an infection as Nikki says.
I’m sure 2 weeks seems a long way off right now but you’ve done the right thing in going to the docs and it’s good that your GP has referred you to the breast clinic straight away.

Please let us know how you get on,
Take Care,

many thanks for all your replies. It was lovely to hear from you and made me not feel so alone, and i sincerly thank you for that. I had my apt through yesterday and it’s on 31st March, seems ages away.
Somebody told me that if your breast is painful it’s unlikely to be anything sinister, does anyone no if thats the case. thanks again x

yea breast cancers not usually painful when it presents itself. good luck, thats not long to go really. xx

Hi,
Just wanted to say good luck for 31st. The waiting game is the worst, but I’m sure your family will give you courage.
In 2006, I was told my painful lump would not be anything as br ca doe not present itself painfully. How wrong they were. Mine was a mulfifocal ca, so had to have a mastectomy.
Try not yo worry, easier said than done i know. All the best.

Hi again,

Good luck with your clinic appt, not too long to wait now.

As for pain, it’s a bit of a myth that pain = no cancer. My breast was very painful before dx, but GP said the same to me!! However I was dx with IBC so a little different as no lump presented.

That said, of course NOT all painful lumps will be sinister and I have my fingers crossed that you will be back with good news ver soon.

Take Care,
Love

Hi all, well have just got back and I’m pleased to say that I have three cysts, talk about relieved. Many thanks for all your support and good wishes. You’ve all been great and I wish you all well. Take care xXx

Thats great news.
Did they say why your lymph nodes were up?
Can i ask if you had mamogram and scan?

Hi paulabee, that sounds like really great news and I am truly sorry to be a naysayer, but I had cysts too, and the cancer was right against my chest wall and undetectable by the ultrasound. The only reason it was found was by accident with a biopsey needle that happened to get the tumour, if that accident hadn’t have happened I would have been sent home with the cysts drained and the cancer still there.

As pineapple has said, I hope you have had a mammo and CT scan, because you cannot trust this damned disease and it is always best to be sure.

Sorry, I feel bad to put a downer on your news. Just care that it is all truly sorted for you.

Nikki

Nikki, maybe she wont look at this again!

Maybe not pineapple, but hopefully there has been a full set of tests and it wont matter, I just know how close I came to going home without knowing because of them finding cysts and that scares me for anyone else.

Fingers crossed it is properly sorted.

Nikki

Previous posts don’t actually detail what tests Paula was having done, just says ‘appt’, which is worrying.
