painful hip and shoulder

Hi
This is the first time that I have used the forum. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 years ago. I felt very lucky to be told I could have a a lumpectomy, radiotherapy to breast and radiotherapy to ovaries. (HER positive tumour no spread to nodes) Now on Letrozole 2.5mg daily.
I have recently started to have pain in my right hip and pain in my shoulder and often between my shoulder blades. I feel really silly going to the GP in case she thinks I am a hypochondriac. I work full time and haven’t had a day off sick since returning after treatment 3 years ago. Do you think this is anything to get concerned about?

Hi wenken
I know exactly how you feel as I have been having hip pain for about 4 months now adn buried my head in the sand. I finally went today and had an xray and it just showed up degenerative wear and tear. My whole body just aches and I think it’s because I have been through so much. I really hope all is ok and you are not being silly at all. For people like us, any little niggle is going to be a worry and the doctor should understand this.
Best wishes

Hello Wenken
Sorry you’ve got this pain. I think you must get this checked - otherwise you will continue to worry about it until you do. Remember that’s what your GP is there for. I would hope she’ll take you seriously and will be helpful but if you find she isn’t helpful then why not phone your BCN?
Incidentally I’m on Aromasin which I think has a similar action to Letrozole and I also have some intermittent hip pain but my GP said it’s one of the Aromasin side effects.
I think you must get on the phone tomorrow morning and make an appointment with your GP.
Good luck - I’ll be thinking about you and please let us know what happens.

Hi wenken

You may find it useful to have a look at the BCC fact sheet on letrozole as it will give you information on the side effects. The link to follow for this is:-

As your fellow forum users have said it may be best to contact your GP but I hope you find this helpful.

Kind regards
