painfull lump

Is there anyone out there who can tell me if they had a lot of breast pain and their lump was painfull to touch before they where diagnosed. I have a great deal of pain mainly a deep aching in my breast and some times in the month the lump itself is very painfull. I am worried because all the sites say bc is painless. Was diagnosed on the 26th October and have to wait 1 month for lump removel. Asked consultant but didnt really give me a answer.
Did anyone else have the same problem

Hi Lynne

I did have pain, but I hear this is very unusual. Mine was more of a sore feeling on the side of my tumour, I thought it was my heart of lung to be honest.

But I had no lump that I could feel that was painful, just a general “soreness”. Sorry this is not very explanatory but that’s the only way I can describe it.

Hi Lynne,

Sorry to hear of your recent diagnosis.
Yes my lump was painful, in fact that is what made me aware of it!
I was mis diagnosed in May 2006 but the pain was waking me up at night and the lump was still there so I went to Gp in September who referred me to the breast clinic where it was diagnosed. They had missed the lump off my first mammo!

However after the lump was removed the pain went,

Hi Lynne,

I am another one whose lumps have all been painful - I think it is a myth that breast cancer tumours are not painful!! and quite misleading for people like us to hear this said.

Hi
My lump was fixed and painless but my friends was painful and moved. I kept saying this was good but it turned out to be a quite an aggresive cancerous lump! and she now has to have surgery, chemo , rads and herceptin. So I felt really bad about that!
I think everybody is different and as my consultant said nobody is the same!

Hi ladies.
Thank you for letting me know your stories. Ifeel a little better now. Still waiting for operation, not due until the end of the month. The waiting seems incredible and as the days go on i seem to be coping less & less. Just cant wait for the operation adleast i feel like something is being done.

Keep smiling ladies

Hugs.

Hi there

I had painful breasts and put it down to the size!! Went to doc and she agreed and I bought a sports bra. Then one night as going to turn light off felt pain in the left breast and there was the lump!!! Had mastectomy six weeks ago and there is no pain in other breast now at all. So think it is definitely a falasy that pain is not cancer. The waiting is the worse but I did not find op bad at all it is worse now waiting for scan results beofre starting chemo!

all the best
