painting nails? Did it work for you?

Hi, I’m about to have second of three FEC tomorrow followed by 3 x T…  Have read that painting your nails a dark colour helps them not to discolour or lift? Who’s tried this? Did it work for you? Any tips? :relaxed:??

ive trimmed mine down and before all this crap in my life used to have my nails done every 3/4 weeks, my lady uses gellish varnish and an ultra violet light for shirt time… Anyone used? Will this help or hinder? I don’t want to waste money getting them done if  not gonna help.

I understand that gloves outside, wear for washing/water use, but I don’t know or can’t remember why? UV daylight?

Hoping for answers ?? xxxx thanks xxx Tina

From what ive read, it’s the T that affects them, especially when introduced to sunlight…which is uv light? So having the gels done may not be a good idea. I’ve just been painting mine, all different colours!

i have painted mine so far so good

tandy I painted my nails black while having chemo and it didn`t do any good and all my nails came off but they have all grown back again and look fine.Had my last chemo in May 15.Good luck to you all you will get through it and it will be worth it.hugs Sandra

Hi Tandy painting my nails in dark polish never worked for me I lost every single nail and nearly 6 months finishing chemo they are still coming out x

Hi Tina, I had 1st T yesterday after 3 EC and like you really worried about effect on nails. I’ve had no problems with EC, nails fine, just looked after them with lots of cuticle oil and hand cream. I was offered cold mitts and slippers to minimise potential effects on nails during T admin but found it too painful to continue with mitts after 10 minutes - I am also cold capping and it was just too much for me. It also felt very restricted to have hands encased in heavy mitts for 2 hours.

Everyone copes differently, might be worth asking if these available to you and giving it a try.

Good luck xx
