Panic - 7 Weeks since diagnosis and still no date

Hi all

Has anyone had to wait so long? I was diagnosed on 2nd Jan with grade 2 Lobular but I am still waiting for a surgery date. I spoke to the BC Nurse again yesterday and she said that it is because the two consultants I have seen want to be present for the surgery and its trying to get their lists co ordinated ! I have also been suffering with back pain and am now being sent for a bone scan to ‘re assure me’… Freaking out now that they thinks it’s spread and that’s why they are sending me or is this a test I would have had later anyway? Can anyone offer any advice… Please…

Hi there, So much waiting around all the time,it does add to the stress. I hope you get your date soon. I was told on 23rd dec 2013 that i had breast cancer and then didnt see a Dr again until the 6th jan 2014…i just had my mastectomy 27th jan…All the Best and let us know when you get a date x

I’m afraid I can’t answer all your questions, but just wanted to tell you that when I found my lump, I waited 7 weeks before telling OH and another couple of days before seeing GP. Then one week for breast clinic appointment. Another week waiting for results. Waited another 5 weeks before surgery. I had grade 3 ductal invasive with lymph node involvement.

I think the bone scan is just a precaution. Quite a lot of people have one. Hoping you get a date soon and wishing you all the best.

Hi, Thank you for your kind words, I suppose I will just need to wait my turn. I will phone the BC Nurse again if I don’t hear anything by midweek on either the scan appointment or the op date. It really is concermning that they bang on about catching it early then make you wait agonising lengths of time before treatment begins…:smileysad:

Hi

I am pleased you have got a date at last. It is the waiting that gets everyone anxious. Wishing you all the best and will be thinking about you.

Hi there, I was diagnosed on the 6th Feb. after having an ultra sound, mammogram and 3 biopsys… I’m sure the wait is pretty normal even tho it makes u go out of your mind with worry… I have just had a bone scan, and now have to wait for a CT scan and an mri. I was told that I wouldn’t get any more info until all 3 scans had been complete as they wanted to be thorough and make sure they hadn’t missed anything else… I think the worst part is the waiting… and the worrying about how long they are actually going to leave it…  I wish you all the luck, take care, tammy xx
