I’ve had pelvic discomfort for several months which is worrying me. Has anyone else had this? I shouldn’t be worried as I’ve had a scan (inside and out) of my pelvis and the Dr who did it said nothing to worry about… It was painful and I bled for about 48hrs afterwards. Lost confidence in scan Dr as he thought arimidex was a contaceptive pill and said he could see a folicle on 1 ovary. I’m confused as I have been hormone tested over 18 months to check I’m now def post-menopause and thought (A level biology dredged up!) follicles produced an egg in ovary.
I’m waiting for a follow up appt with my GP. My gran and an aunt had ovarian cancer which is why my GP refered me for the scan. I can’t bring appt forward as she won’t have the scan results.
Am bumping this up as I have terrible pelvic pain - like a bad period pain. I can’t find any reference to it as a side effect but found the above post from May. Does anyone else have this pain? I’ve just started Herceptin and Tax and don’t know whether to make a fuss or just to live with it
Annie I think any pain that is new to you and goes on for more than a couple of weeks should be discussed with your onc. Once you get bc and different pain you don’t ‘just learn to live with it’ without getting it checked out.
As Dawn just suggested, you should get it checked out, mainly to put your mind at ease. I don’t know if you are taking any hormones, but one of the lesser known side effects is ‘growths’ on the ovaries. I don’t want to alarm you into thinking this is the case, but his happened to me whilst taking Tamoxifen, they weren’t anything to worry about, but they did cause me quite a bit of discomfort.
Hope you get it sorted and remember the 2 week rule!
Thanks for your suggestions. I spoke to the BC nurse and she said that it is likely to be a reaction to the Tax, so to take paracetamol and see if that helps. I didn’t want to take it in case it masked a temperature, but it seems that ‘abdominal pain’ is a side effect. Also, thanks for the warning on the ‘growths’; always best to be aware isn’t it - I’ll remember the two week rule too
