periods and Fec
periods and Fec Do your periods stop automatically with FEC?
i was due to start my period last Tuesday, so far nothing. Had my first FEC 2 days after i was due to start my period (Thursday). Its now Saturday and still haven’t started
There is no possibility that I could be pregnant so I know its not that delaying it.
Will I get a period (now 4 days late) or assume the combination of stress and Fec has delayed it all
Hope someone can advise -silly thing to worry about but was just wondering
Julie
Hi Julie,
Funny you should post this now as I was just about to post about periods. I can’t answer your question I am afraid, but I do know that FEC does mess up your periods or stop them.
I have had three FEC so far and my periods haven’t stopped (tsk) instead, its less than two weeks since my last period and I am bleeding again today.
Hope somebody has an answer for us.
Take care

HI Jools
I am on FEC and I have had 1 period at the begining of my regime I am now on number 5 , they say it can put you through the menopause they did explain it to me before I started that my periods may or may not return and did I think I would want children in the future because of this…
Hope this helps

Hi Julie,
As people have said I think it can mess with your periods. I had my first FEC on 23rd May and was due to start my period on the 25th (usually pretty regular)! However, I started my period 7 days late and it was a pretty normal one for me. Like you, Im wondering what is going to happen next! If anything!
Take care,

Think they Do . . . Hi Julie
I had 4 x Fec starting in January 2006. I had one peiod in the february and then nothing since (16 months). It has thrown me into an early menopause.
I spoke to my onc who said it depends on your age but if you are 40 or over it usually does this. (I was 42 at the time).
I thin if you are in your 30’s there is a slight chance that they might come back - speak to your onc.

I had 4 x FEC, then 4 x TACT back in 2003 when I was 31 and my periods stopped after about no. 3 / 4 (can’t really remember now!), but came back a few months after I finished treatment. Everyone is different, but the younger you are, the more likely it is to just be a temporary “chemopause”, as opposed to a permanent early menopause.
Hope this helps, but if in doubt, speak to your onc and / or BC nurse. Good luck with the rest of your treatment.
