Periods back mid treatment

Hi all some of u may have seen my query bout swollen stomach etc earlier in week.

Well all is clear now - just started my period for first time in months!!! Hair also growing fast yet am still getting weekly paclitaxol. Does this mean my body has got too used to it and it’s maybe losing it’s effectiveness!?

Confused and annoyed as typically it’s my hol next week!!!

I know nobody replied but had horrendous period pains all night and now got heaviest period had in ages!!! How bad timing is this!!!

Hi Signet, Sorry nobody replied yesterday. I didn’t come on at all yesterday, (busy day!)

So sorry to hear you are having such bad period pains etc. I don’t think the fact that your hair is growing back means the treatment is being less effective. However, I think I would ring up the oncology department or your onc and tell him about the periods, just to put your mind at rest, especially as you are on hols next week.

I do hope that you will be ok and that you have a lovely hol, take good care of yourself. Dianne x x x

Hi signet, my periods came back after 5 years of monthly injections to stop them whilst I was on hormonal treatments. I stopped the injections as it was thought I was highly unlikely to have anymore periods on starting my first chemo (and being nearly 50 at the time!) My periods returned a few months later. I’m still on the same chemo, Xeloda and still have periods although they are now intermittent. I’m currently in remission, I have bone mets. Hope this helps…xx

Hi signet,

Sorry you are having a bad time with your period. I do too so know what’s like. I’m currently on FEC and period has never stop. CT scan last week showed tumour area in liver has shrank by almost half. So, FEC is definitely working for me!

If you are worried, would be good to give onc a ring about all your worries before you go away on hol. It might put your mind at rest so that you can really enjoy your hol.

xx
