Periods stopped after 4 years on Tamoxifen

Hi all

I haven’t used these forums for some years now and I’m now in my fourth year of Tamoxifen and, whilst my periods stopped during chemo and the year that I took Zoladex, for the last 12-18 months I have been having regular periods, which lasted for a shorter time (3 days approx), but these have now suddenly stopped.  I’m not pregnant but I am very worried about this sudden change.  My plan is to get an appt with my oncologist as I haven’t seen him for two years anyway as I know Tamoxifen can affect your womb lining and that’s a concern but just wondered if this had happened to anyone else?

Another contributing factor might be that I have changed doctors and consequently my brand of Tamoxifen has changed - from relon chem to Teva…don’t know if brand change would make a difference to periods but I know it can change the side effects.

I think like all of us post BC, any change is a nightmare as you just assume the worse! I have done pretty well to hardly worry at all since my diagnosis is 2010 but now we’re just about to adopt and this couldn’t have come at a more inconvenient time!

Hi Emma,
I doubt the brand would make any difference re periods…that would only occur re the oestogen/oestrogen blocker angle. Think you should see your GP, explain your concerns and they might refer you for a scan just to check if there’s any thickening etc and check everything’s ok.
The adoption plans sound exciting - I hope it works well - do you know how old/young your potential child/babe may be or are you not quite at that stage yet?
