Periods Hi
I finished my treatment a couple of months ago now (thank god!) and wanted to see if anyone elses periods stopped as a result of treatment? I had a course of FEC followed by a course of Taxotere and then a month of Rads. I haven’t had a period since January and have been getting the odd hot flush, though it only lasts a second and seems to be getting less frequent as my body is getting back to ‘normal’!

Just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and if their periods since came back?

I’m 30 so a bit concerned about not being able to have kids. I did know the risk before but had to make the decision so quickly to go ahead with the treatment that the option of freezing eggs was kind of out of the question at the time.

My periods stopped too. I had 4 x taxol and they carried on as normal through that. As soon as I started EC they stopped and I started with the hot flushes.
I’m 35 and thankfully have 3 kids. I have been told by my breast care nurse that it is more than likley they will start again after all the chemo has finished.

Hello, Nix!

I had 4 x FEC, then 4 x TACT back in 2003 when I was 31 and my periods stopped after about no. 3 / 4 (can’t really remember now!), but came back a few months after I finished treatment. Everyone is different, but the younger you are, the more likely it is to just be a temporary “chemopause”, as opposed to a permanent early menopause.

Thanks Thanks for your replies and support. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that they will come back and speak to my BC nurse to see how long they think I should wait and if there is any testing that can be done after a certain amount of time so I know one way or another.
