Photodynamic

Anyone heard anything about this?

I read a post on on an American IBC thread where a lady wanted to go on a trial for this. She has skin mets. I looked it up as I’d never heard of it and because she said the only trials she could find were in England!
I don’t think it’s that common as they’ve certainly not mentioned it to me at the Marsden where they are treating my skin mets so I looked it up. It seems it treats various cancers and is a cream applied and left on for several hours if the cancer is external, followed by a light sensor directed to the site for a length of time between 5 and 45 mins.
I’m intrigued!

Hi Mabel
I.ve had photodynamic therapy for basal cell carcinoma,s (skin cancer that just goes along the skin) it,s very affective, and easy, they apply a cream then 3-4hrs later you have a light shone on where the cream has been it,s covered for about a week, then thats it done,it can be quite sore if on a bone or nerve site but doesn,t last long.I live in the fylde area, my skin specialist has been using this treatment for awhile now,

Thanks for that Lorna

I think I will ask about this when I’m next at the hosp. I wonder how effective it might be for skin mets.
Really pleased it has worked so well for you.
