PICC Line ...weekly chemo

Hi there fellow Breast cancer warriors … I am half way through my chemo …just about a month ago the powers that be on my chemo team had a PICC line popped in so I would not have the trauma of more cannulas in my hands … I bloody hate needles … Ladies and Gents it has been a game changer for me …they plug me in like an electric car and away the treatment goes . Yes I have to go to the hospital for weekly dressing changes and PICC line care on top of the trips in for chemo but no big deal … yes it took about 4-5 days to settle into the vein it is in … No it did not hurt going in- they numb the area … Yes it is a pain in the bum having a shower as no dry sleave is provided and you have to figure out what works cos everything has to stay dry and clean …and yes my skin hated the dressings and reacted so we are now on dressing type no 3 and so far its working fingers crossed it stays that way … for all those on Paclitaxel weekly and Trasmuzatab every three weeks -sp- ATM… we are blooming well gonna smash this …chins up …ps I totally rocked being Sylvester at Halloween … just put on stripy pjs and wore no make up and didn’t wear a wig …cos I look like the undead …the local kids will probably need therapy …snicker .

Thanks for sharing. I hate needles and there is always a struggle to find a vein, so it’s good to hear a positive view ref the PICC line. You can get a sleeve for it and something to put on your arm to keep it dry in the shower. I’ve seen a few pics on socials.

Hope the rest of your chemo treatment goes ok.

Yes l managed to get one a few days later …it would have been useful to have it in advance though

Love it and love my pic line too had him since 9th Jan we call him Billy the picc he’s the best xx thanks for sharing x
