Part of Chit-Chat & Fun is escape. Is there a place where you have traveled that helps you to cope with the trying and serious BC we all face???
I’ll start:
in the US, Cape May, New Jersey
Just the raw power of the ocean puts it all in perspective
beautiful, satisfying, lovely place

This isn’t a place I have been to during treatment, I haven’t been there for years but we used to go every year as kids and I love it.
Derwent Water, Cumbria
Would go tomorrow if it was possible

Had a fantastic holiday in Protaras, Cyprus in July 2005 two months before I was dx.
Absolutely love Cyprus and would go again tomorrow!

Just love St Aygulf in the South of France. Went there when told to think of something nice whilst being stabbed with needles! Sorry, no link but it is great.

I have several special places
Wastwater in the Lakes - so eery and quiet, dark and deep but totally awe-inspiring
Tofino Vancouver Island - managed to see hump backed and grey whales, sea lions, bald eagles and black bears all in one day!!! The sunset over the Pacific Ocean was just breathtaking.
Rose Isle, Morayshire. Beautiful beach lined with pine trees. Can be cold in the north of scotland but on a sunny day, fantastic
For a wee Scottish break we can’t beat
Inchmurrin Island on Loch Lomond…no cars, lovely accommodation, pub (no drink driving - but take a torch if going Easter/October as we do!)
It’s an island owned by the Scott family and they are really nice people. You have to take all the food you need with you, but they help you put it on the boat and transport it to your accommodation for you. There are 3 small but well furnished flats next door to the pub, and a wonderful cottage called The Ben, with timber decking out over Loch Lomond and plenty room for 6 (the most we have accommodated there, but it sleeps 8). The island is yours to roam, and they can organise a small putput boat for you to go around the island on.
Sue, that sound wonderful. How do you get the details for that. I like holidays away from it all.
google inchmurrin island - it’s got its own website - it really is good.
There’s pub grub and a restaurant too, so you don’t have to take food for the entire week!
I spent my growing up years holidaying in North Wales. We used to do a lot of walking in Snowdonia, which is beautiful.
I also love the Malvern Ridge, especially the Worcestershire Beacon (being a Worcestershire lass although I haven’t lived there since 18).
Visited the Grand Canyon in 2005. Now that really does take the breath away.
Thanks Emily I’ve just spent half an hour “walking around Protaras”. We stayed right on Fig Tree Bay and our Hotel Silver Sands is the first Hotel you can see in the video you found for me. It was very windy by the look of the sea and the sound on the v ideo camera. We had no more than a breeze when we stayed and it was very hot but very enjoyable!
This year may be finally booking for New York but want to do Boston and also Cape Cod.

Sue, just looked at Inchmurrin Island. It is gorgeous - just the type of thing I like. I thought it would be dead expensive (well you are a posh horsey woman aren’t you!) so pleasantly surprised at the tariff. Will be going there sometime soon!!! May actually see you there. Wouldn’t that be funny - no more virtual bars - the real thing. Bet we would be so quiet and refined - no strippers there!!!
Emily
You are a little darlin’ - how nice to see everyone’s fave places for real. I do say, I fancy Boston - New England in the Fall, isnt that the place to be?

BTW, if you don’t want a link
and want this place to remain private
just say so
I don’t want to intrude, just help us all see how beautiful the world can be sometimes
