plantar faciitis

Hi elinda45
It’s all your fault! I’ve just ordered a pair of the shiny red FitFlop clogs (I’m still too sore to go shoe shopping)! Can’t wait for them to arrive.

Hi Sarah

I’ve actually found a shop that sells Fitflops so I don’t need to order online anymore! I think I’m going to become a Fitflop addict…

I agree with fudgeincornwall - ortho inserts (mine were from Boots and cost £19.99) have made a huge difference to me. But I kinda like the idea of filflops trainers, so may do a bit of looking around, (but don’t tell my o h!) Mo

I’ve got a 20 mile round trip over potholed roads to the nearest shop that sells FitFlops - online rules OK when you’ve got a very sore boob!

Red clogs arrived today, nothing can stop me now!

I have rubber inserts from the pod but they slide up and down so can be a a bit dangerous when driving. I find if I wear a different pair of shoes, so not the same pair 2 in a row really helps me. I also buy new shoes a lot more often as I seem to wear the inside padding down really fast and bought a size bigger.
Mine is really getting under control but if I leave the stretches out it reminds me quite quickly.
Must check out these shoes

Dear All
OMG I cant believe I stumbled , excuse the pun ,on this thread, I have been a sufferer now since June 10 I started Tamox in December 09 and blamed myself for walking along the beach , in a vain bid to shift the extra pounds that have besieged me since the BC arrived.
What a palava all this is eh! If its not bad enough with the horrendous hot sweats and extra weight now the foot is involved, my surgeon denies any side effects from TAM and my Oncologist just said stick with it ,he’s not taking it !
But what a comfort this website is to know I am not going mad and there really is others out there with the same stuff happening, Thankyou girls for lifting my spirits .
I too am attending a Hospital Podiatrist, who is very kind , but useless really, I have had a prosthetic made for my shoes by them but if I am honest it only brings a slight relief some days and no relief other days, and boy does it hurt sometimes, does anyone else get sharp shooting pains in the heel and a strange burning/pins and needles sensation? Also I now find that i am getting a bit of hip pain in that side as i know I am over compensating they way I walk, Anyway I am now going to check out Fitflops website, this BC is expensive LOL.
Cheers
Sue

Quick update ,I have succumbed to the Black Fitflop trainers for work, I will need to work as they are a hefty £ 80.00 from John lewis online.Hope they work, hope they are delivered when OH is not in!!

Hi Sue - like you all ladies on this thread have suffered heel pain since just after finishing treatment. Followed some advice and did the exercises, wore shoes with small heel and used heel pads with some improvement. Latest posts recommending Fitflops encouraged me to order a pair and I took delivery today (2days after placing order). Have bought grey mules, mainly to wear in house during the cold weather. Paid £22.94 inc. postage from runningbare. Not too much if I can get some relief. Wearing them now and they do feel q.comfy. Watch this space. Marli

Apart from doing tendon stretches and buying lots of Fitflops the other thing that I found helpful was to lie face down on the bed, heels in the air, and get my OH to give the most tender part of my heel a really good massage with his thumbs, with instructions to ignore any sounds of pain from me! However, I eventually learnt not to do this naked because he didn’t spend long enough on my heels…

Hi just reading thread as Plantar Facitis caught my eye.My daughter has suffered with it for a few years.(growing is the cause) After many appointments with different professionals she has splints to wear at night and they really seem to work! They are Healwells Cub, FLA Orthopedics. They are not cheap but have proved well worth the money! Just thought they were worth a mention.
Sarah x(I like the fitflops option)

Hi, pleased I found this thread and wondering if this is the problem I have started to get? I’ve been on Tamoxifen for 2 years, definitely put on weight and over the last couple of weeks have noticed pain in my heel though there’s nothing to see, almost like a toothe ache does this sound likely to be plantar faciitis?
I thought it had disappeared until today but it’s back. I’m just wondering if I should see a dr or maybe just give the fitflops a go? Since having my treatment I’ve always found it hard to wear high heels, so lots of my shoes I no longer wear. Would welcome any advice from anyone suffering from similar
Thanks,
Smiler

Hi Smiler
I was told that it typically affects fat females in their forties and fifties. I would have been offended if it wasn’t so accurate a description! It also tends to affect people who wear shoes with inadequate support (Uggs or slippers for example) a lot of the time, and whose feet therefore tend to roll inwards (called pronation). I wouldn’t bother seeing a doctor with it, they just say take painkillers and if it continues to get worse, eventually they offer you a steroid injection into the heel - no thank you! An osteopath or physiotherapist is more likely to be beneficial since as well as treating it with massage and stretching they will also show you exercises to improve it. And of course as loads of people said earlier in this thread, it’s an excuse to buy FitFlops.

Thanks Sarah, that’s definitely me fat and in my forties so I fit the description for this as I did for Gallbladder problems! So now i need some miracle diet…and fitflops on my Christmas list!

Hi Smiler
You made me laugh - I too got told the same thing when I had gall bladder problems! Now how do we justify buying more shoes to cure gall bladder problems…? Nope, OK we’ll stick with the plantar fasciitis.
