Saw the plastic surgeon yesterday about the mess my hand is in after Taxotere. Thankfully he has said there is no dead skin or tissue and it looks a lot worse than it is (it’s becoming like a very bad case of sunburn now), so he’s referring it back to the Dermatology Clinic where it will probably be treated with steroid creams.
My onc had a look at it today and told me they do sometimes get patients developing localised exzema type skin things on Taxotere, but they hadn’t seen anything as extreme as this. She’s recommended I see her again in 4 weeks time as she wants to make sure it’s properly healed. Good news is it doesn’t affect my Herceptin appointment tomorrow and after this one I can probably have the rest done at home. I can cut the steroids down now as well and cut out the Piriton. I’m really glad about this as the steroids are a huge dose and making me ravenous (have gained about 5lbs in the past week!) and the Piriton is making me sleepy.
