Hello I am new.
I am 17 years old (Nearly 18!)
And i have a lump in My right boob. It is quite hard and sore. Very tender and after My period last week seems to have got bigger.
I went to the docs Today. She says its about 3CM?
She has given Me antibiotics to take 8 tablets a Day as its inflammed and maybe infected. She thinks it is a Cyst but is not certain. Therefore has sent out a letter to My local Hostpital for the breast clinic. I have to wait two weeks.
I am really worried. I dont know what to expect or anything.
I am sure you will be recieving lots of supporting posts very soon now. In the meantime, you might like to call our helpline on 0808 800 6000. This is open from 09.00 - 17.00 Monday to Friday and 09.00 - 14.00 Saturday. All the people answering the phones are either breast cancer nurses or trained helpliners and it is all confidential.
Hi jess,
poor poor you and I am so sorry to hear you have this huge worry when you are just a teeny weeny compared to most of us on here and should be having just fun things to think about. I would advise you not to read much on here at all as you will probably be more scared, by reading about things that happen from a definite diagnosis of breast cancer. The likelihood of you being in the same boat as most of us will be very very small. You are way below the lowest age I have heard of anyone having it, which is a really big plus in your favour.
When I was slightly older than you and working up in the city, my friend there had a similar thing and I can still remember how bad it was for her. She got sent for checks but was told by her GP that breast cancer lumps do not normally hurt and that cysts are the ones that hurt, so that her pain was a good sign! Another big point in your favour. This is why she has given you antibiotics for it and I hope you get a big response very quickly to make you feel better. Even if you don’t this still does not mean it is bad news, as they have to find the right antibiotic for it. Getting checked is scary but think of the wonderful relief to know you can sail back of into the sunset and follow your dreams.
Big hugs and just try to stay calm, sending you lots of love and all the luck in the world.

Jess, despite other comments, mammograms are not always painful! I’ve had lots now and truly, none of them has hurt at all, so please don’t waste energy worrying about that!
Thanks Everyone. I think it doesnt help being on 8 tablets a day. There strong and a bit depressing. But I will keep My chin up and await My appointment
Just got back. Had the examination. Then was told I was too young for a mammogram and ultrasound… And to come back next week for a biopsy. Then the Doc caught Us leaving and said He has spoken to A higher up Doc and can do the biopsy Today. So I had that done and I wont lie it was painful. But My lump is on the nipple region! So made it hard for him to get a sample. Got an appointment for 31st Dec for the Results.
Hi,
brave girl for the biopsy, I still remember that. But I am glad they are moving along for you now as it is hanging around waiting that does my head in most of all. Keeping everything crosse for 31st, what a day to see them. Hope you get your wishes and a happy new year.

Hi Jess
The news is really positive - 95% of all breast problems are non cancerous but you should always get it check out - so stay “breast aware” the not knowing is worse than any reality.
Don’t want to be a downer but I was told that it was a good sign if you had pain in a lump by my doc cos I had pain unfortunately I did have breast cancer .
Dont rely too much on myths , and it’s good you got it checked out and it’s good news for you
caron x good luck
