Pocketing Services in Glasgow/North Lanarkshire

Hi.

I’ve just recently had a bilateral mastectomy and while I have a few mastectomy bras, I’m reluctant to purchase swimsuits and sports bras as I really like the ones I already have.

Can anyone advice me of anywhere is the Glasgow/North Lanarkshire area where I can get pockets fitted to these? I can’t sew at all so I can’t do it myself.

Hi there,

I know each hospital is different but my mums hospital (Falkirk Royal) has an appliances dept and so long as we don’t go mad we can hand in bras and swimsuits to onocology and they sew in pockets free of charge… may be worth checking as we only found out cause we asked!

Thanks for replying Maree. I get my treatment through the Western in Glasgow and I know they can organise pocketing for you, but it’s not that easy for me to get to. I do work in Glasgow but it would take more than my lunch hour to get there and back. I’m not due back for a check up until late August and I’d like to get back swimming before then.

Breast Cancer Care offer a prosthesis and bra fitting service in Glasgow which may be able to offer you this service, or offer you information about where else you may be able to access a pocketing service near to you, please follow this link fopr more details:

Hi Lucy. I phoned the Breast Cancer Care office in Glasgow and was told that they didn’t offer a pocketing service. I was really surprised at this as I would have been sure that would have been on their list after prosthesis and bras.
