I visited my loal hospice recently and they are puttng together a folder for families and i’m not sure if for after bereavment or not but there are looking for apt readings, poems, prose, speechs, you name it they would welcome input and they are trying to look after other than mainstream Christians so Judaism (sp?), Moslems and everyone really so if you have something comforting or inspiring or moving then I would really love to read it and I’m sure we all have bits of stuff that we bookmark e.g. Obama’s acceptance speech although not apt in this case of course. If anyone has something then please share or give a reference or private message me if permitted to send links. Lookforward to some reading to send on to my hospice carers. Oldie
I like this one :
Don’t know the title unfortnately.
"I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says “There, she is gone.”
“Gone where?”
“Gone from my sight. That is all.”
She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at that moment when someone says “There, she is gone” there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout - “Here she comes!”

Hello,
This is my favourite.
Peace
Go seek your peace where the bright streams wind
And quiet waters sooth the mind
Where bright sky’s gleam
And tall trees sway
And cares and sorrows fade away.
