Ah that might be where I’ve gone wrong, I’ve been taking the anti-histamine one. Didn’t know there was a herbal one. I’ll try that because I’ve just got to get some sleep somehow.

Hi All. Not sure if I can offer any advice and I’ve not heard of Asphalia, but I had disturbed sleep from my diagnosis in Aug 08 mainly because of trauma induced anxiety and it continued to well after my chemo, op and rads (May 09). However am sleeping much better now. I put it down to having acupuncture weekly to deal with the sweats which seem to have subsided and are not so severe, and I also try to relax before I go to sleep by reading or listening to the radio in bed. TV stimulates my brain too much!! I know I’ve said this before on other posts but I started weekly Tai Chi sessions about two months ago and my anxiety has completely gone and I’m definitely sleeping better. Yoga might be better for some of you - it bores me to tears but everyone’s different!! I have a herbal tea every day about 7pm and that could help. You could try some of these to see if any work. Let me know - I’ll be interested!!
Hi Jan
Have to confess I didn’t know there were 2 sorts until Ann asked me, then had to go & look at the packet. So it wasn’t a conscious decision, just the first one my hand picked up. Probably would have gone for herbal yhough if I had known there was a choice. I must say they taste disgusting but only for a second.
The non herbal ones can only be used for a short period of time, as the body gets used to it and it stops working.
The Asphalia for sleep contains wheat and barley grasses. These contain powerful anti-oxidants and it says the Asphalia is good for rejuvenation. I only finished rads in January and I am paranoid about taking anything that I consider may help the bc cells recover. Does anyone else feel this way, or is it just me? I can’t help thinking that if it is good for the body, it may help bc cells and the fact that something is good before bc, may be bad after. It is doing my head in, as I just don’t know what to do for the best any more! Any thoughts?

I didn’t sleep properly for about 10 years - and of course it got far worse after my BC diagnosis. I’d either be unable to drop off or would wake up really early, meaning only 4 or 5 hours on average.
Started accupuncture after diagnosis to help me with stress/side effects etc, and took him only a couple of sessions to sort my sleep out. I was amazed. Now I usually sleep for 8 or 9 hours, which does make things a bit easier to cope with! I see the accupuncturist regularly now - really helps with a lot of stuff.
Thanks Divvy1 and Roadrunner
Fortunately I haven’t taken any more anti-histamine ones since I realised they didn’t work for me.
I’m going to get some herbal ones and try them. I much prefer herbal remedies.
Fingers crossed that these are better.
Love and hugs

Oh how I relate to all of your comments!! I used to be a really good sleeper, then I was dx in Feb 2009. I’m not on any hormone therapy, but had total hysterectomy five years ago and don’t have HRT and get moderate hot flushes. Not sure what would help, but would love to have an undisturbed night’s sleep. Was given acupuncture by GP but didn’t help much, am on Clonidine which I think helps the hot flushes but makes the disturbed nights worse.
Love to all
