I was discharged from hospital yesterday after a lumpectomy on Monday. The area is really burning and the soreness has increased this afternoon. Is this normal?!!

Sorry to hear you are in such discomfort - I’d suggest you get things checked out before the weekend. Could it be a infection - do you have a temperature? Perhaps you are allergic to the dressings they used? Is your bra rubbing against the scar? I’m no expert but my wle was very sore afterwards and i had to send OH back to the hospital for stronger painkillers it wasn’t hot though (and I believe this could indicate an infection)

I agree - it may be an allergic reaction to the dressings as I had after surgery - ring the clinic, speak to the bc nurse or ring to ask your local district nurse to visit as I did - you definitely don’t need to wait for your next clinic appointment to get a second opinion - Good Luck and Best wishes

Yes get it checked out as the girls say, but I think we all have different descriptions as to what pain we feel. I know mine felt like I had sunburn multiplied by about 1000 and I couldn’t bear to touch. As you will learn from this site, there is no reason to hang about for answers. get in touch with someone who knows- NOW, just to put your mind at rest…
