hi i had op 6th DEC mastectomy and recon. i have had no other treatment yet as had problems. i am not having rads but hope to start chemo soon. my problem is i have had this very niggly tickly pathetic cough. i have asked various people no one seems worried. saw oncologist she said i had a chest xray b4 op and it was clear but if still there at next apt in 2 weeks she will get another chest xray. i was just wondering if anyone else suffered like this. its the type of cough you hear on others and think for goodness sake have a good cough. there is nothing coming up and doesn’t sound like that sort of cough. any advice. thanks
julie
HI Julie,
I’ve had a stupid cough too, nothing major just on and on. Seems to happen mostly at night. Was dx end of Nov, lumpectomy Dec 13th and have just this week finished rads. Haven’t thought to worry about the cough I must say, probably had too much on my mind anyway! I too had chest x-ray before all treatment started so going to make an effort not to worry! See my GP next week and might mention it then (if I remember!)
Take care.

Hi Julie
I’m nearly two years down the line, was diagnosed in May 2006, and I’ve still got a horribly niggly cough which started the day I had my first radiotherapy in February 2007. It’s worse when I talk a lot or when I laugh. I’ve had xrays to check everything is ok and it has been up to now, but its still very annoying.
Hope this helps you feel better, but keep on mentioning it so they can keep on checking. My onc told me that if I’ve still got the cough in another 3 months they will do an MRI scan but my last xray in December was clear.
Good luck

hiya julie,
i had a bad cough start after my rads, it was always 1st thing on a morning when i first got up.
i sounded like a smoker!
It was fine during the day though strangely.
However i had my delayed recon back in september and since then my coughs gone,
i have no idea why but pleased i no longer have it.
i meant to ask my oncolgist if he knew why my recon had removed my cough,
but i had my 3 month check last week and i forgot.
