I have just been given an appointment for a pre operation assessment but I don’t have a date for an operation? Does that mean I will have a date soon? Is this normal practice?
Hi mlp74
Thanks for posting.
Pre-assessment is often done within a certain time frame before your surgery to ensure it is as up to date as possible, but this differs from hospital to hospital. It’s not unusual to be given a date for pre-assessment before you have been given a surgery date.
You could give your hospital a call to see if they can give you any further information.
Do call our helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. Your call will be confidential, and the number is free from UK landlines and all mobile networks. The number is 0808 800 6000, (Relay UK -prefix 18001).
