I am 24 years old and about 6 1/2 weeks pregnant with my first. A few weeks ago I found a small, firm lump in my left breast. It is about the size of a pea. It does not hurt, other than both breasts are tender from the pregnancy. I told my Dr. right away and he sent me off to get an ultrasound. The technician said it didn’t feel like cancer and was thinking it might have something to do with the milk ducts since it was fairly close to my nipple. After looking for a while, she called in the Dr to look. The Dr said at first it looked like a cyst, or a few small cysts, but said that a cyst is normally all black on the ultrasound and mine was not solid black. So now I have to get a needle biopsy in about a week, and I am so worried I have cancer. I did not even have a chance to ask any questions about what they thought it was or anything. I was in shock. Any advice or thoughts?

Hi 24andpregnant
I may have this wrong. I have cysts(have had for years) and also had cancerous lump. During ultrasound scan cancerous lump showed up as black the cyst was lighter in the center with a dark rim. This is the opposite of what you have been told I think. Try not to worry too much, easier said than done I know. All the best Alice
I have posted this on behalf of new user Julie

Hi 24andpregnant
I really hope it is only a cyst, or blocked milk ducts, but only the biopsy next week will tell you for definate.
I was actually diagnosed with breast cancer last April, age 30, and also pregnant so I understand completely the situation you are in. (I had baby Matthew last December).
Wishing you lots of luck, let us know how you get on.
I am here if you need any further info, support or advice, as I know everyone else on here will be as well.
Good luck
Julie x
Thanks for all the support. I called my regular doctor and asked her to go over the ultrasound findings with me again, and she is thinking its a fibroadinoma?? She says based on the ultrasound results and my age, I shouldn’t be worrying too much, but I can’t help it! I am still going ahead with the biopsy, which has been moved up to wednesday. I have a scheduled appointment with my doc on Thursday to get the results. I can’t hardly wait.
Hiya 24and pregnant,

Take lots of care,

So they ended up removing the lump, which was a fibroadenoma. It was benign. What a relief! Thanks to everyone who has helped me through. ![]()
