Hi everyone, have just had my surgery brought forward after refusing paclitaxel and being denied Phesgo as a consequence. (have had 4 cycles of EC) I have type 1 diabetes and am terrified of the surgery. Can anyone who has trod this path before me give me any advice on how to prepare for surgery, what questions to ask, and how to come to terms with losing a boob. Thank you love Tulip x

Hi Tulip,
I had my mastectomy last Wednesday after it was brought forward by a week. For me this is the first phase of my treatment but in terms of recovery it’s been a lot easier than I thought it would be. I know everyone is different but the pain was minimal and easily controlled with brufen and paracetamol. I’m due to have a check up in a couple of days but overall I am feeling human and well considering so I hope that helps you feel a bit better about the surgery itself! I have had a conversation with myself about how my boob had to go to help save my life and so far that has held me in good stead even though there is a long road ahead. All the best and I wish you all the luck in the world for the rest of your journey x x
