Hi Vicky
It depends on how many items you’re going to have on your prescription at any one time as if you have a few it would be worth getting it.
There are a few ways that you can obtain a pre-payment certificate which are:
* The Internet via their Website at www.ppa.org.uk
* The telephone on 0845 850 0030
* By post, completing the PPC application form FP95, available from pharmacies and doctors surgeries. Or by downloading an application form from the website and sending it to:
Prescription Pricing Authority
PPC Issue Office
PO Box 854
NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
NE99 2DE
* From a pharmacy registered to sell PPC’s
Depending on whether you’re on specific benefits you may be entitled to free prescriptions but you need to check that out.

Thanks - I’ve had a look at the website. I’ll wait until Tuesday to ask.
Thanks again

I have saved a fortune by having an annual certificate - it was £90 or so. It does depend what you are going to need, but very soon I realised it would be cheaper, even for all the painkillers after surgery. I had a Hickmann line and needed to get the weekly dressings etc on prescription. If you find you have a lot to pick up from the chemist, you can pay for a certificate there and then.
Hi Vicky
I was on 2 regular meds anyway and bought a pre prescription cert for 4 months - and believe me I have got my monies worth - my gp was really good and when I needed stuff for thrush she gave me double etc so I have some in the cupboard!! Also extra stuff for mouth ulcers etc. Its gonna run out beginning of Dec so gonna see if she will double up on my regular stuff before then to save me a bit of money as I prob wont get another one now that chemo is finished.
Hope this helps

A Happy and Healthier New Year everyone!
My wife has saved a fortune having a prepayment cert while on chemo, but it is about to run out as she starts radiotherapy.
My question is: will she need it for radiotherapy or not?
Thanks
Hi Freddie
I found that the majority of prescriptions were required when I was on chemo and since I’ve finished I’ve not needed any others. When I start radiotherapy I’ll use acqeous cream which you don’t need a prescription for and is cheaper to buy over the counter anyway.

Mine is a god-send, but then ive got years of tamoxifen etc to take. I used it countless times when i was on chemo what with one thing and another…ill definitely be renewing mine when they send me the reminder.
