Hi Lincslady,
I have been having so many tum probs too since chemo/rads/on tamoxifen I am having 2 probiotic drinks a day (read somewhere on net that 2 doses a day was found to help according so a survey) I must admit that since I started them things have improved quite a bit.
No one has said not to have them…mind you I haven’t told anyone ‘medical’ that I am having them… I am very hormone receptive too and didn’t know that there was a link with probiotics and hormones??
sorry can’t help more, good luck

I went to a talk when I first started fec, it was given by a dietician from the Bristol Cancer Centre. She advised probiotics and prebiotics in capsule form. I got some and have used them ever since (five and a half years)! They really help my digestion and keep my tummy nice and flat, no more bloating!
Hi Lincs lady,
Pre and probiotics are fine. I would query your use of evening primrose as it can cause gastrointestinal upsets and, because you are hormone receptive. You could ask on the helpline here or phone your BCN
My onc recommended I try Evening Primrose Oil to help deal with night sweats and my cancer is hormone receptive, so presumably it’s OK.

thanks everyone. i think i will get some ordered and give it a whirl. they say the tablet form is better as the drinking stuff like actimel might not reach the right place?
interesting what you say about the epo. i was told to take it by onc and have been on it since march 2010. wonder if it is upsetting me though? something still is lol
Hi lincs lady
I am posting a link to the BCC publication ‘Menopausal symptoms and breast cancer’ which contains information about evening primrose oil:
breastcancercare.org.uk/upload/pdf/Menopausal_symptoms_factsheet_BCC18.pdf
Please do call our helpline regarding your query about probiotics or you may wish to use the ‘Ask the Nurse’ mail service’ which is available via the home page, here you can ask our specialist nurses about your query.
Best wishes
Lucy
